"So give me strength; to face this test tonight" -Turn Back Time, Aqua
"I'd just like to point out that I never would've expected the Apocalypse to happen in South Dakota." Panting, Anna leans against the outside of Bobby's house, acting as a human crutch for the injured old hunter.
Bobby leaned more weight into Anna and groaned as he felt blood spurt out from his side. "You idjits had to bring it to my house..."
Dean led the way to the panic room while Sam brought up the rear, firing off as many rounds of rock salt buckshots as he could along the way. The large iron door swung open with a creak to reveal an iron-walled room complete with a desk, lamp, and Devil's Trap in the center of the floor. "Get in."
Anna got Bobby inside and sat him at the desk before turning to see the door -- wait, was it closing? No. It can't close. They can't leave her behind to sit this out. Not after everything they've been through together. Not after what she's said. "Dean?!"
Outside the door, Dean squeezed his eyes shut tightly -- tears trickling down his cheeks. "St-Stay here, Anna. Take care of Bobby."
"What are you doing?" Running to the door, she jerked the handle trying desperately to get it open. There was something in his voice that told her he wasn't planning on coming back which sparked a wave of panic unlike anything Anna had experienced in years. "Dean!"
"Don't let Bobby die." He rasped and placed a hand on the large iron door, inhaling and exhaling deeply. He turned to walk away but stopped and looked back when he heard pounding against the door - the sound of metal on metal.
"Dean! You can't leave me like this! DEAN!" A loud boom echoed from the inside of the panic room which caused Dean to wince. Anna threw her shotgun to the floor in pained frustration and sunk to her knees.
"Anna, you idjit what the fuck are you doin'?!"
"I'm not going out without a fight. We're partners, Dean! You can't abandon me, damnit! I'll die fighting beside you! I won't go without you!" She let out a cry as she slammed a fist into the door and she felt her hand break from the force. As she sobbed and clawed at the door, the pain from her broken hand dulled under the anguish of a shattered heart.
"Dean! NO!" Sam's voice reached the panic room and Anna's head shot up at the sound. The door dented in with enough force to tear a pumpkin-sized hole in the iron.
A bloody, twisted, mangled body slumped against the metal of the door and when Anna looked through the hole she fell to pieces. "DEAN!"
Anna shot up in bed with bullet-like speed, skin coated in a light sweat. She choked on a mangled cry, nothing more a quiet wheeze escaping while she panted heavily and looked around the room. Tear-filled eyes fell upon Dean, sleeping peacefully on his side next to her in their bed and she breathed a sigh of relief. It was a nightmare. Nothing more. Dean was okay, right next to her. No one was dying, and the world was still turning.
Once she stopped shaking, Anna laid beside Dean and wrapped an arm around him. Her hand rested over his heart while her smaller frame curled against his back and she buried her face in the crook of his neck and shoulder. Breathing in his scent, feeling his heart beat and the warmth of his body against hers would calm her in time.
If God was trying to test her, this was a sick way of doing it.
