Back in old Virginny, working a lot, playing and recording some music, and sadly slacking on the journalling thing. I'm not online as often as those days when "work" had me sitting at a computer for a long stretch every day, and when I am, I find myself more often on myspace than here on lj, as most of my local friends are on there, so it's easy to stay in touch. I've been thinking about a comeback, though I don't know where I'd pull the time from.
Leaving the internet may not be a bad thing. I've managed to rely more on a paper journal than blurt out everything to a blog, which I think is healthier in the long run.
Plus, the outside world is so ... green! Hard to find while stuck on a computer for long stretches. I understand why someone would leave especially if it's for something worthwhile like music.
I am currently working for corporate lawyers in the New York area while I save up my money and get all the prereqs under my belt so I can get my Masters in Eastern medicine. I also just found myself a fantastic woman who'll teach me how to wield a sword.
Oh, my, I forgot about this comment. I actually decided not to pursue training with this particular teacher at that time. I'm currently getting the academic prequisites and money under my belt so I can study full-time here in a year or two. Acupuncture and herbology have helped my own health so much and I've been chewing it over for the last year and a half. Time to move! Plus Portland is apparently a haven of kung fu dojos and yoga studios.
I've lived in the New York/New Jersey area most of my life, and it's pretty dense, population-wise and spiritually-speaking. I'm looking forward to more trees, lower rents and people who aren't caught up in the Wall Street mentality.

Poor old Y. What a funny cat. He's probably in the lower end of my top 100 people with whom to have a pint. And there's hope - remember how reclusive Jandek was, on a personal level, and yet here he is playing shows all over the place now. I told you I ran his soundboard when he came to Richmond and played with a few members of the Patchwork Collective, ja?

On the other hand, thanks to your sleuthing we now know that it's not that dangerous to do so, seeing as due to poor craftsmanship...

P.S. Speaking of sleuthing, they now know where Y.B. lives, but they haven't been able to get him to answer letters. Alas.
