Back from NY... with a sandy throat and a glow in my brain

Apr 20, 2007 08:51

The wife and I had been stuck in two airports and two airplanes all of Tuesday and Wednesday (total of about 34 hours) with no fresh oxygen. We went out east to celebrate our one year anniversary, visit old haunts / friends, and check in on a store in Brooklyn called Junk. This is the place where in 2004 I bought six big old photographic portraits that I later used to begin my series of people with animal heads. I was excited that they were still open and I was especially excited to be able to purchase 25 more! They are not as big, but they are fantastic. I have had very little luck finding photographs of this caliber on the west coast so making this find was a great relief to me. These, once completed, plus other new works will be included in a solo show coming in September to an amazing little gallery in my old hometown. This show will mark my first solo exhibition in Fresno since 2002!

P.S. If you are ever in NY and have about $160 to drop on a super-romantic/super-delicious dinner for you and your significant... go to ANTIQUE GARAGE in SOHO!
