Dilemma . . .

Nov 17, 2006 15:04

I like how Ashod asks for advice through live journal. So, I'm gonna do the same.
First I'll state the facts:

1) I haven't painted in a month and a half and I am going looney-tunes!

2) I'm beginning to commit to a band with the folks from Irving.

3) I haven't played music in FOREVER and I didn't really miss it.

4) All I want to do is invest my creative energy into my paintings.

5) If I commit to this band thing it could be serious.

6) I don't know if I really want to be in a band BUT this music is absolutely delicious AND I love everyone that is in the band.

7) I would be sad if I quit. But I wouldn't be sad forever.

8) I would be extremely sad if I continued to spend little or no time on my art.

9) I'm hard to live with when I don't paint. Sorry wifey.

10) Is my art good enough? Or is it mediocre? If my work is mediocre then it would be ok to be in a band right?

In other words, as a 30 year old, how should I invest my time? AND is it ok to drop out of a band when their first show is scheduled for a month from now (Dec.15)?
