Does anyone know precisely what happened?  I've seen posts from those who were on the ark on the network... where are you?  If you're safe--Shilo, Neil, Todd, Zia, any of you--please post or reply.

It was a hoax.  The City flooded, but not enough to do more than cause property damage and make going outside miserable.  There's still standing water ( Read more... )

living means catching colds, not cursed, police, worried, shilo, beckett, zia, neilandtodd, tentative plan, who would listen to me?, still alive

Like Todd said. We're fine. Wet, but all right.

And surrounded by monsters, it sounds like.

I'm glad you're both alive. One way or another, you'll get back to the City.

That's what they say. I haven't seen any, but then I haven't tried to leave because we heard about it.

I'm sure they'll... if they don't go away, someone will figure out how to get through. I'm sure of it.

Good.

Try to get dry. We're trying to get help to you; it's only a matter of time until this is worked out.

Todd and I at least know how to lay a fire, so that's a start.

Did your school teach you Latin and rudimentary wilderness survival skills?

Just the Latin. Fire's something you pick up on your own really. I mean, you've never gone out camping or anything?

Not exactly.

Lighters are also easy to come by in the 21st century.

C'mon, I'm not that out of touch. Besides, I usually carry matches on me. Do they still make Zippos?

Matches don't help in a flood, Neil.

They do. I haven't seen any in the City, but they were common enough at home. The lighter Richard had wasn't a Zippo, but it was shaped like a gun and, from what he told me, waterproof up to two hundred feet.

I can't imagine why anyone would need a gun-shaped lighter two-hundred feet underwater.

Well no, unless you had them in something that kept them dry. Which would've been nice. Without matches it's harder but hardly impossible.

I wouldn't want a gun-shaped lighter to begin with.

I'll be giving you a waterproof matchbook case for Christmas.

You would if you were a chain smoker who found it amusing to 'shoot' people with it.

Why spoil the surprise, Justin?

I'm not much of a fan of guns.

You'll just have to forget between now and Christmas.

That's not a bad thing.

I think I can manage.

It's... the way things are, that's all.
