I don’t remember how old I was when I saw a cat catch a bird on the school playground. It must have been in kindergarten… first grade. It doesn’t matter. I was reading when I heard this noise. As far as I know, "terrible" is a quality that the public school system fosters in gym teachers.

I don't know. My mother was very... she had extremely rigid views where appropriate gender-based behavior was concerned.

I don't think I would have done well in school where you're from. At least with parents you can try and reason...well, at least talk back to them.

You would've been fine. Not all teachers are like that. Some of them were easier to talk to than parents.
