Asters.  More specifically, these are Eurybia divaricata, or white wood asters.  They flower in mid to late summer and early fall and are, to some, a symbol of patience.  It takes approximately two years for an aster to flower fully, as this one has.

Yes. It was like not existing--like just being a mind without a body or a location.

So it wasn't really nothing either - if you could still think at least there was something there.

You're right. It was temporary, though. Maybe it'll be different later.
