City councilors in the Icelandic town of Mosfellsbær are proposing that the town build a museum featuring Icelandic wild animals, as a tourist attraction.
Residents, however, have other ideas.
The Residents' Movement is proposing a museum dedicated to the vulva, saying it would have "more to offer", and "symbolically contribute to gender equality". It would also align nicely with Iceland's existing phallus museum, which last year crowned its collection with a human specimen.
The citizens are proposing that the museum initially would display vulvas (vulvae?) from various Icelandic species, and expand the collection over time. Oh, and they want Russian feminist punk bank Pussy Riot (three of whose members were recently sentenced to two years jail time for mocking Vladimir Putin) to play at the opening. Well, as long as the gig is at least two years away, they should be good to go, right?
