Silly Maria,
Raymond and I aren't living in Chicago yet, though we took yet ANOTHER trip there last Spring Break. We've got two friends living in Rogers Park in North Chicago, and have found a couple of beautiful apartments we love in that area for about $750-$850 a month. We found some cheaper apartments just south of downtown/Cermak area, but they were too run down and in pretty unsecure areas.
We also LOVE Wicker Park, which is also called "Little Seattle" in Chicago. You can get there by taking the Damen stop on the Blue line. It's got wonderful arty things and cafes and bars, and a lot of the apartments are pretty historic. You can find some affordable places there, too.
We're also thinking about the West Coast now, too. I'm doing an internship at KMUW here in Wichita now, and as soon as I finish with that, I'll officially have "public radio experience" and might try to get some work in Oregon or Washington. We're thinking Corvalis--just a quick drive to the Oregon coast, a college for Raymond to attend, and just an hour from Portland. However, we wouldn't have our beautiful friends Matt & Maria up there. :(
Give me a call some time if you're living in Wichita. My digits are 371-4008!
