Strawberry
Yesterday, I found an IMAC, circa 1999-2000, in the trash dumpster behind work. You know when Apple came out with the fancy colored personal computers with the brains built inside the monitor? Yeah, it's one of those, in the "Strawberry" color.
Our back parking lot, where said dumpster sits, is enclosed almost completely by a chain-link fence which separates our shopping center from an ocean of self-storage garages.
Somebody from one of our neighboring stores put it, many, many kinds of computer cords, several lamps, and a motor-controlled airplaine in there for the taking. So I took the computer. It was right on top anyway.
Raymond and I booted it up. After taking the thing apart for a good dusting and an inspection of the innards, Raymond determined that the hardware's fine. Somebody just wiped the computer before they tossed it.
My grandma, who's had the cutting-edge in Mac technology since before Apple came up with the Mac, probably has a copy of the OS from her old one. Or at least an extra mouse lying around.
All I can say about this discovery is, "SWEETNESS!"
