A short idea I had in April of this year.

Five men on a boat. Sailing toward home on their last hope, knowing their world has already been devastated by the forces of the enemy. Another ship appears alongside them-none of them saw it approach.

One of the five men is telling this story to a campfire of men.

Hard to keep track of the formatting here on LJ. Was confused about what was going on at some points. The dialogue seems to lapse into text sometimes. Interesting snippet though. Alludes to an interesting back-story. Don't think I'd use it to open a longer story, but it works pretty well as a short-short.
