Grand Re-Opening!

I am attracted to Livejournal way too much to just leave it as a dead blog with a couple archived entries. So, yay! As if having 4 different weblogs using 4 different weblogging tools wasn't hectic enough. But yeah, this is my anime/manga weblog now. I really don't know where I'm going with this, but I love to start things. Not necessarily end them, but beginnings are beautiful.

I spent all day updating Hitsuzen and then I downloaded the Tsubasa Chronicle Episode 2 Raw from Saiyaman. I would have to say, Bee Train's main accomplishments were music selection and special effects. They can hardly even take credit for the music, since it was Yuki Kajiura's doing anyway.

Music
Real quality. As my sister says, real "Egyptian-like". I love the combinations of new and old. What I mean is the violin/classical mixed with modern beats, as well as the beautiful opera music and eerie/mystical melodies rampant throughout the intense parts. I find the opening theme nothing special, but the ending theme is nice. It has a bit of a nostalgic feeling to it.

Special Effects
Special effects were nice; real high-tech, stylish stuff going on. The color choices were also excellent. Every scene's color scheme was carefully constructed to create a really unique atmosphere. This is not the animation from your childhood. This is the animation of the new generation.

Character Designs
Character designs were a bit lacking. I was especially disappointed with Yuuko. She just looks too awkward. The Yuuko I knew had a mysterious and sly beauty, and I didn't get that sort of vibe with the anime version. I think Kurogane's hotness was also toned down, but I don't think the manga gave them much to work with. They could have made him a little less thin, because he looks painfully unhealthy. Because of the simplistic qualities of the manga character design, the style seemed to carry on into the animation. Eh, I guess they tried. However, I really don't like how everyone seems elongated. It's reminiscent of X.

Seiyuu
I like Sakura's cute voice. Syaoran was a good pick too. However, Fai's was just a little off. I expected something a little more playful, like a higher-pitched Shigure (from Fruits Basket). Kurogane has the typical deep-voiced male sound. Many were disappointed at not having the CCS seiyuu, but I don't really see the big deal in all of that.

I'll write more another time; right now I'm just not in the mood.
