this pic, and
lady_gemma found the pick Ohno's wearing amusing, especially since he... doesn't play. XD
Nino went through picks like some people went through socks or toothbrushes. He was incredibly picky about them at times; he needed just the right thickness, just the right rigidity, and as soon as the plastic triangles lost either, he tossed them aside. It was easy to tell when he was working on a new song because a trail of discarded picks followed him where ever he went.
Ohno always felt it was kind of a waste, and a bit sad. He wandered in Nino's shadow, picking up the picks and tucking them in his pockets with unknown intentions to do something with them; just because Nino was done with them didn't mean they had to lose any and all purpose. But he'd forget about them, and his mother had a strict 'anything you leave in your pants pockets that comes out in the wash is now mine' policy, and she threw them away when she found them.
He told Nino of this problem, seeking advice on how to not lose them in the future. Nino raised an eyebrow at him, the corners of his mouth curling up in a fond smile that clearly said, 'You are crazy, but you're my crazy, so it's okay.'
"How about we make it so it's not in your pockets, then?" he offered, taking one of the many reject picks to the makeup counter. He stole a bit of jewelry wire that Jun always kept in his bag for emergencies, and poked a hole in the thin plastic with a pen. Stealing once more from Jun (and ignoring the concerned, "Nino, Jun's gonna get mad..." from Ohno), he strung the entire thing on a length of black cord.
Darting around behind Ohno, Nino tied the necklace for him, his fingertips skating along the back of Ohno's neck just because he could. "There, now you won't lose it." And Ohno couldn't help but notice it hung level with his heart, the text of the company name a bit smudged from use. The shine on the back was worn off in one spot in the shape of Nino's thumb, and Ohno felt himself smiling at it for no real reason.
"Thanks," he said, fingering it. Nino grinned at him.
"I am going to miss you picking up after me though," he sighed in mock sadness, and Ohno was more than happy to show that Hansel-and-Gretel style trail or no, he'd still be close every time Nino turned around.
