Day 5: Definition of Love, in great detail
I skimmed down the list when I first started this, and when I saw this one, I thought of all of the definitions of love that I've heard over the years.
Love is never having to say you're sorry - First of all, it's a stupid movie. Secondly, it's a completely false statement.
The "Magic" from Sleepless in Seattle.
The idea that loving someone is simply being able to picture yourself growing old and wrinkly with.
My personal favorite, however, is one of the more popular things I've seen in movies, especially recently. It's the idea that you can tell you're meant to be with someone with just a kiss:
"That thing, that moment, when you kiss someone and everything around becomes hazy and the only thing in focus is you and this person and you realize that that person is the only person that you're supposed to kiss for the rest of your life, and for one moment you get this amazing gift and you want to laugh and you want to cry because you feel so lucky that you found it and so scared that that it will go away all at the same time."
I have no idea if that's true. But this is how I see it:
Love is when I am simply willing to sit and waste my time with you. Love is when I'm spending time with a person, and I forget everything else I wanted/needed to do that day. This is evident in all kinds of love, so I have learned. It happens with every person that I love, my siblings, my parents, my best friend, and so on. I would imagine that experiencing romantic love would be kind of the same with other really good aspects to it as well, of course.
To me being in love, romantically, would be like spending time with the person who inspires me the most... like that Billy Joel song. I would imagine that the man I will eventually fall in love with would be the man I will always end up writing in my stories... It makes you wonder what Stephanie Meyer's husband is like if that's true.
I have no idea if I'll know that I've met the man I'm supposed to be with through just a kiss. I will definitely know, however, when the two of us are sitting together watching a Star Wars movie for the gazillionth time, with a bowl of popcorn, and it's way past my bed time; my phone is dead, I'm completely out of clean clothes, and I should be packing for some trip, and I still don't care.
