Yeah, I just heard the news announcement on BBC Radio 6....
I'm sad that he's leaving, but I knew it was going to end sooner or later. I just wish it would have been later. I'm probably one of the few (that I've read, mostly in tennant_love) that ISN'T crying at the moment.... I'm just sad.
I'm not crying either. I'm not really surprised. I think I would have cried if I hadn't seen him do Hamlet, but now that I've seen him out there doing other stuff recently, I'm glad he's moving on. It is a bummer though. Such a great character he created.
I wanted soooo badly to see him do Hamlet, and I know for awhile they were thinking of bringing it to Broadway (not sure if they're still considering that option....)
I've heard so many wonderful things about his Hamlet performances and I've seen him be brilliant in other things (Secret Smile, Blackpool, Harry Potter) that I have no doubt he'll continue to succeed in other shows/movies.
It is sad though. He's gonna be a very missed Doctor.
What needs to happen is we need to get him to do some movies over here! Honestly! They've kept him over there long enough. :P
I wasn't really depressed about hearing about him leaving either. It wasn't surprising at all really. 10 was close to retirement anyway because of how angsty, busted, and cynical he'd become. I think that's why I enjoyed 10.5 so much in the last episode. He was how the Doctor was when I first fell in love with him.
