Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I'm in a pretty good mood today actually. Apart from being a little tired (I'll probably feel it more later this afternoon) I'm okay I think even with the infantry landing this week (o_O) I think I need to vacuum off my desk...
So, yes, ditched work yesterday for Mom's birthday and other stuff like that there. I slept in to about 20 minutes to 10am and got ready to go to Cecily's apartment where Mom was going to meet us and we'd go have lunch and get pedicures. I haven't watched Regis and Kelly in a long while and they are kind of funny when it comes right down to it.
Anyway! We went to a restaraunt called Beaches. I had fish 'n chips and it was very yummy :) After lunch we stepped outside of my comfort zone as we entered the nail salon (Mom and I were gagging from the smell at first. It's that acryllic stuff that stinks.) Mom and Cecily picked out the color they wanted but I wanted to get French tips so no color for me. We got ushered to our seats and stepped into a feet jacuzzi as we sat in massage chairs. I'm not a fan of massage chairs really, they either tickle me or make me more uncomfortable than I already am. This one wasn't too bad though, it was pretty gentle. So! Mom and Cecily got started first and I started a little later. I'm SO glad I shaved my legs on Sunday because I hadn't realized they were going to do a feet/leg massage. It was SO nice and I twitched which made my nail lady laugh quite a bit because she'd tickle me on accident.
After she did my nails I was moved over to another chair and waited to dry a little and then she dipped my feet in wax and put them in plastic bags for a minute or two. I wish I'd brought my camera because they looked like detailless sculptures of feet. After a minute she slipped the wax off my feet and we were done. My feet have never been so pretty in the 23 years I've been walking on them.
Yes, I'm posting pictures of my feet on the internet!
Took that this morning before I had to put my shoes on lol
Sadly though, it's supposed to be cold again this week so I probably won't be able to show off my pretty feet. I need to touch them up a little bit. My big toes had a minor accident. :P
So, yay for new salon experiences! Afterwards Cecily and I went to pick up Krysda to take her to the doctor. Both of us noticed how protective she is of her new son. It's odd because she wasn't like that with the two older boys. But it's a understandable because this little guy had some problems when he was born and was in the ICU for quite a while before she could bring him home.
What IS NOT understandable is the name she's given the poor thing. I can't even REMEMBER it for the life of me but it starts with an X. And it's not even something normal like Xavier. Though it does remind me of Zod in Superman II. I think of that whenever I hear the name. Honestly though, I can't remember what it is. I think my brain isn't remembering it on purpose.
After we got Krysda back home and played with my two older nephews for a bit we went to the mall so I could pick up a cake for Mom. I've wanted an excuse to do this and Mom's birthday was the perfect one. I called Dad and told him not to worry about picking up a cake, that Cecily and I were going to get one at the Cheesecake Factory. *falls ovah in blissful delight* It's freaking expensive but well worth it IMO. I got a ten inch "Tuxedo Creme" cheese cake. It's layered with creme, chocolate, and cheescake... MMMmmmm! It didn't bother me because I'm living at home, with the parents basically rent free and as a result I'm saving up a TON of money because of how well I'm being payed to post on LJ at my current job so I figured I could afford it this time. It'll probably be a long while before I can afford it again, so I'm glad I did it when I did.
After we picked up the cake, Cecily had to go to FHE (church activity we have on Mondays) to practice with Kimberly who's going to sing next week in church. So, I decided I'd go with her. We got there and I had to scram to the bathroom first. When I got out, WHO is walking towards me but Russ, the guy I've been crushing on for over three years now...I think. He smiles and asked me how I was. I returned the smile, blah blah blah. When I got close enough he kind of gave me one of those guy one armed hugs before we went in to the lesson. I'm talking about this because something struck me when I saw him. I didn't flip out, I didn't go nuts. My insides stayed just the way they were. I think I may possibly be okay with him now. I hardly see him anymore anyway, so there's no real point in pining after a guy who barely sees ANY girl it seems, much less me. I think my brain has finally given in to that fact and now, I'm mostly over that crush. I still think he's very cute and very sweet, that hasn't changed because he IS but...*shrugs* Noooo problem! Weird.
So we had dinner and cake when Cecily and I got home and I gave Mom The 'Burbs on DVD which she got all excited about and started laughing when my brothers and I started quoting lines from it.
"That scum-barking-rat of yours has left his LAST dump on my lawn! I find one more, just one, I'm gonna catch him and staple his ass shut!"
I'm so glad I own that now. Next is to get Galaxy Quest on DVD. Why I don't own that is beyond me.
It was a good and busy day yesterday and I'm glad I wasn't sitting here whining in my LJ how I wish I could've gotten the day off to go with Mom and Cecily :P
Another purchase I'd like to make is the new Corrs album called "Home". It's all old Irish songs and I'm going to post the lyrics to the one I love already from it.
Black is the Colour
Black is the color of my true love's hair.
His lips are like some roses fair
He has the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands
I love the ground whereon he stands.
I love my love and well he knows,
I love the ground whereon he goes,
And I wish the day it soon will come
That he and I will be as one.
I'll go to the Clyde and I'll mourn and weep,
For satisfied I'll ne'er sleep.
I'll write him a letter, just a few short lines,
I'll suffer death ten thousand times.
Black is the color of my true love's hair.
His lips are like some roses fair
He has the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands
I love the ground whereon he stands.
Oh, so nice is it not?
Another V-Day digi-card for everyone:
Okay, I think this is long enough...for now
[edit}I've put more things under cuts because...this is a freaking long entry LOL
