Bunches of stuff to do today. I slept over at Cecily's apartment last night. We stayed up late and watched Much Ado About Nothing "Let it be written that I am an ass." which is freaking hilarious and is still one of the Shakespeare plays I need to read. Michael Keaton is my hero lol I wish he would get in more stuff. I love him in everything he's in, including that one movie where he plays that ridiculously smart criminal (I can't remember if he had comitted murder or what he did) and he kept escaping the cops right up to the very end. And then there's Mr. Mom "I love this shirt!"
We also watched the first half of the A&E version of Pride & Prejudice. I had never seen it before so it was kind of interesting. Some things I liked and some things I liked better in the movie like Mr. Collins for example. I like Colin Firth in the part and I like the woman who played Elizabeth but it seems that all their emotions are more subtle, a little understated. The scene where he proposes for the first time, he did it very well but when I read that scene in the book Darcy and Elizabeth got into a rather heated argument. They lost their composure more than once. In the A&E version it was a little more matter of fact and all that.
I guess I'll always be partial to Matthew MacFadyen's Darcy *shrugs*. Dunno why, just am.
So, last night was fun, watching fun movies with junk food. My kind of party.
After I got out of work early yesterday we went to go and see King Kong. I liked it, I loved the monkey, I liked Adrian Brodey, but I absolutely ADORED that ship captain! Captain Englehorn, guh! Right from when he first took Naomi Watts' hand to greet her at the beginning all the way to his last scene I just LOVED him! So rugged and "manly and impulsive" with beautiful blue eyes and a delicate mouth. He reminded me a little bit of David Wenham when I first saw him. What was very cool though was the fact that he kept coming to the rescue of the main characters throughout the movie and he didn't die, which made me quite happy. His real name is Thomas Kretschmann. (here's a *ahem*
decent picture) and the only other thing I've seen him in I think is U-571, in which he played the nasty German captain of the German sub. But ooooh, in King Kong he's just fantabulous! It's very odd, because I rarely notice the more minor characters in movies, but this one it's difficult NOT to notice.
Okay, now for stuff to do. I have to go and get groceries and fix dinner tonight, then I can go back to Cecily's and watch the rest of P&P and maybe Father of the Bride :)
Oh, one more thing
