Hi author!

So last year my letter had a lot of discussion about general likes, dislikes, tropes, etc. That letter is here, in case that will be interesting or helpful for you. (If that does sound interesting to you, go ahead and start there right now before going on; I'm not kidding, it was thorough.) And if we matched on Raven Cycle, I asked for it last year too, and my requests haven't changed much. However, I'm not including a big like/dislike list this year, because my requests and preferences this year are…pretty different in each fandom.

The quick rundown as applies to my fandoms this year is: I like plot, shipping, and worldbuilding; I do not like OCs, PWPs, non-canonical character death, and non-canonical levels of violence (which means, a lot is fair in Crimson Peak, but very little is fair in Cracked: After Hours. It's an expectations thing, as well as a tone thing). I do prefer happy endings, or at least neutral ones, though this depends on the fandom too, of course. Please don't give me social justice fic: I don't want Edith-the-bluestocking to any level beyond what the movie includes, I don't want Gansey the gay rights activist beyond the 'generally tries to be aware of his own privilege' levels in the book, I don't want a Cracked: After Hours fic where we actually talk about what an asshole Michael especially but also the rest of them can be (yes, they can all be assholes; no, we don't need to discuss it).

But before we get to the requests, let's talk about porn!


I love porn. It's great! Please feel free to write me porn! I will be including a section on kink likes/dislikes under each fandom, and there's some general info in last year's letter, but I will also say: I am familiar with most kinks, and I am very okay with almost all of the ones I know. If you want to write something you've always wanted an excuse to write, I am happy to be that excuse.

However. I also fucking love trope-y fics, self-indulgent fics, silly fics, and world building fics. Please do not think that because I have a specific section about the porn, that I will only be happy if I get it. That information is not included because it's the most important thing; it's included because it's hard to give my author that information (if it turns out they do want it) if I don't specifically put it out there.

In general, I have a mix of gen and shippy prompts, and I am only including prompts I genuinely want to read. Also, these fandoms are not necessarily in order of preference: I literally randomized the order.

The Raven Cycle | Richard Gansey III, Ronan Lynch

Like everyone else, I love the mythology and magic in the books, and how subtle but surprisingly pervasive it is. I love the dynamics of the characters, and the surprising lack of actual backstory to them - what were they like before they met each other, before they had this all-consuming quest? We get a little more of Adam and Blue, and we've gotten more of Gansey and Ronan, but there's so many gaps all over the place in the stories of what made them them, and gaps are wonderful for storytelling. If all my ideas below fail you, pick a character and tell me about a moment in their life when they were all alone, or a moment when they realized they weren't anymore.

I particularly love Gansey and Ronan because I fucking love Gansey, and his issues that nobody really seems to realize he has; I like characters that are less fucked up when they're helping people, and both Gansey and Ronan care so much about taking care of the people they love. And Ronan is the only one (besides Blue, sometimes, but sometimes Blue is so awful the other direction) who deliberately takes care of Gansey! And Gansey is willing to be vulnerable with him! And also feels responsible for Ronan - which is okay, because Ronan very much believes and behaves as if Gansey is partially responsible for him and his decisions.

Unlike most people, I do not like Adam very much. I do not have anything against Adam/Ronan, but for personal reasons, Adam as a character is not one that I want to read fic about. I just wanted to get that out of the way, and my apologies to anyone who may have offered these two characters + Adam and/or anyone else and wanted to write about him; but please do not include Adam in a major role. Background/secondary character status is fine, of course.

There. Now that's out of the way, let me refer you to The Raven Cycle section in my letter last year. Because that says everything I want to say (with links to meta!) The only thing is, last year I requested Noah as well, and this year I haven't; if you want to write one of my prompts about Noah that are in my letter last year, go for it.

Tropes

• Soulmates: OT5 soulmates as a concept? Being predestined to meet someone(s)? Soulmate tropes like hands on wrists, seeing colors, etc.
• Soulbonding! Like of the sudden, alarming type, or any other.
• Sex Pollen (Magic) and/or Physically Needing to be Near Each Other Because Reasons
• Is codependency a trope? I want that trope where they're the only ones who understand each other (esp. before they pick up everyone else!) and they spend too much/all their time together.
• Protectiveness, especially characters being surprised by their own protectiveness
• Morally-grey behavior? I don't know how else to phrase it, but see prompt below.

Prompts

• Dream sharing! I want Gansey in Ronan's dreams (and Ronan not being sure if he's real?), or Ronan to figure out he can go into Gansey's! I want them to meet in dreams before they meet in real life! Just, Ronan has this amazing thing with dreams, and I want Gansey to share in it somehow.
• Soulmates and/or soulbonding!
• Morally-grey behavior: I'd love an AU (or a pre-series non-AU!) where Ronan does questionable things, a lot like in the second novel, and Gansey meets him under less than proper circumstances. There are so many more interesting ways to meet than at school. (If AU, it does not have to be a canon AU: you could even go drastic like a university AU where Ronan steals cars or something and Gansey notices him but for some reason doesn't report him, etc)
• Gansey's impressions of/relationship with Ronan before his father's death vs. his impressions of/relationship with after (and by 'relationship' I do not mean 'dating'! I think all of these prompts would work platonically!)
• Gansey, Ronan, and Gansey's family. That is all.
• MAGIC AU WHERE THEY ALL HAVE POWERS OF SOME KIND?
• Non-AU Magic Powers fic where Gansey/they all temporarily get powers of some kind? I just really want Ronan being protective and worried and nitpicky but also hilarious excited about the potential uses, while Gansey is just interested in researching the how and why.
• Friends with benefits??
• idk just being-friends things.

Do Not Wants

• AUs that make them 'normal' people - a coffee shop AU would be fine, if Ronan still has his powers, for example, but a high school AU where they're all normal teenagers without the magic and mystery would not. An AU where they're all into questionable things would be okay too, even without magical powers, but a bakery AU would not. I hope that's not too confusing.
• No permanent character death - if you want to write a fic where they bring Gansey back, or a groundhog day-esque fic, that'd be fine, but no 'oh he's dead; woe'; likewise, no fic focusing just on worrying that he's going to die.

Kinks

Yes, Please:

• Polyamory! Open relationships! Anything like that.
• D/s! Gansey giving Ronan boundaries and Ronan taking care of Gansey!
• Ronan's pain/danger kink, compared to Gansey's worry and self-control! Service kink? (Dream me the world? Come on.)
• I like almost all forms of dubcon, though I'd prefer more of the magic/sex pollen/controlling or manipulating some aspect, and not dubcon of the hate!sex variety for this pairing.

No, Thank You:

• Infidelity or infidelity-based kinks (no Gansey cheating on/secretly thinking about Blue, no Ronan cheating on Adam)
• Noncon
• Unrequited Pining - if we're going the shipping route, I like somewhat happy relationship resolutions.
• If you do go the BDSM or D/s route, please no public humiliation kink.

Crimson Peak (2015) | Edith Cushing, Thomas Sharpe, Lucille Sharpe

Okay, so I asked for all three characters because I originally meant to ask for Edith and Thomas only, but almost all of my prompts, when I started writing them, mention Lucille. I just love how tangled the characters are, and I don't really think you can develop much of Thomas without also including/developing Lucille. It didn't seem fair to talk about Lucille so much in this section and yet not have her listed as one of my characters - I didn't want my author to feel pressured.

I'm conflicted because I love the whole "redemption" (put in quotes because you can't actually redeem the shit they did) arc for Thomas where he pulls away from Lucille, but I also love the obsessive, incestuous codependency between Thomas and Lucille. So while some of the prompts I'm offering only let Edith and Thomas be (somewhat) happy, I still end up feeling bad for Lucille! So if my prompts seem a little all over the place, that's why. It's nothing you need to worry about; just don't make Lucille the straight up bad guy and Thomas all victim, and I'll be good. I expect Lucille won't get many happy endings.

However, that said, you can focus on Thomas, Lucille and Edith as little or as much as you like, though I do want the fic to have Thomas and Edith at least a little. All of my prompts have a fairly polyamorous, or at least, love triangle bent, so you choose which ship(s) you're most comfortable with, as long as the fic you end up writing doesn't conflict with the couple things I specifically mention I do not want below.

Tropes

• Supernatural: ghosts, of course, but could be much more elaborate like vampires or werewolves.
• Protectiveness, particularly (esp for this fandom) characters being surprised by their own protectiveness
• Possessiveness (yes, well.)
• Moral ambiguity (of actions, as well as of characters)

Prompts

• The most obvious one, I suppose, would be what if they really had taken Edith's money and gone away, all three of them. Do Edith and Lucille learn to share? Does Lucille convince Edith they need to share each other, too, if it's going to be equal?
• I would love a fic that put Thomas and Lucille in New York much younger (after their mother's death still? or even before? she sends them away when she finds out what they're doing, instead of getting murdered?); maybe Edith and Lucille go to the same girls' school (I'd love if Lucille has sort of adopted Edith as an obsessive love like she has with Thomas), and - they either all three grow up together, or Thomas has gone to boarding school and comes back all grown up, or??? And Lucille and Thomas could know about Edith's ability to see ghosts.
• Thomas seems to like Edith partly because she's so naive and trusting of him. A story exploring this - either from a slightly dirtywrong perspective of him enjoying/needing/kinking on it, or from a perspective of him liking it because it allows vulnerability in return, or maybe him not liking how quickly she trusts/relies on him because it makes him feel so guilty? Anything like that.
• Make Thomas and Edith vampires!
• Make Edith some kind of supernatural creature! Could be just, more magical powers than seeing ghosts, could be an outright 'she inherited something from her mother and is glad to have found people who don't think she's weird and/or are like her' kind of thing.
• What if the plot took a little longer to progress and Edith gets pregnant? What do Thomas and Lucille do?
• This movie but set in modern day? I know that sounds ridiculous! A good 40% of the movie's substance was atmosphere and costumes. But I love ghost stories, and I love ghost stories set in modern day, and I just wanted to throw it out there as an idea!
• Something really different, like Edith as a ghost medium/spiritualist who gets called in to Allerdale Hall and ends up getting haunted by/entangled with the ghosts there? Thomas and Lucille could be the ones who call her in, or it could be set in a slightly later time period, so Thomas and Lucille are ghosts there.

Do Not Wants

• Do not kill Edith. Do not provide loving, graphic details about torture or maiming of any characters.
• Do not create a plot about or have characters dwelling too long on child death.
• Do not try to outright redeem the characters in a non-AU setting.
• Please do not write me a fic where all the gothic elements (magic/horror/awfulness) are taken out - please do not write a fic that's a great romance or whatever where Edith and Thomas meet and get married and grow old together etc. etc.

Kinks

Yes, Please:

• Dubcon would fit into any semi-AU post-canon or canon AU fic, and might be unavoidable in some cases. I am all for it!
• Ghost sex is fine! Could be in dreams, could be that she doesn't know he's dead, could be she does know but he feels real to her. Whatever! - This might apply to AUs or non-AU fics.
• Hatesex, and hatesex turning into not-hatesex
• Bloodplay/Knifeplay and violent sex are both fine, but see the last point in the next section.
• Additional list of kinks I can imagine coming up which are all perfectly fine: breathplay, clothing kink, bondage/restraints, marking, supernatural-based kinks, e.g. the kinks that come up when you have vampires/werewolves/faeries/whatever - everything from magic-induced dubcon to kinking on non-traditional body parts like wings, fangs, tails etc to knotting is fine, none of it bothers me, go wild.

No, Thank You:

• Necrophilia. I do not consider ghost sex to be the same as necrophilia. Please no touching of dead body parts. Please no characters dying during sex.
• Noncon: This is one canon where my normal "no noncon" rule is flexible. Or forgiving? Either way, I realize this fandom will end up having some very dark fics. I just don't want a fic that is 1k a plotless, pointless rape scene.
• Vanilla/Homemaker Kink: If you decide to write a lighter fic, whether it's an AU or not, please do not make it be a honeymoon/homemaking/happily-ever-after fic. I don't really want fluff, but more specifically, I don't like it as a kink in any fandom.
• Medical kink and scarification or branding.
• While blood is fine, I don't want any kinks/sex scenes in general that are so violent they would be permanently damaging to the participants.

Extra Notes

I feel like my ideas for this fandom are less concrete and therefore less helpful. Perhaps they're just more scattered. Either way, I'm sorry! It's just that it's hard, having seen a movie only once, to remember all the moments to offer jump-off points for prompts. Just know that I 100% encourage someone who's writing for this fandom to write self-indulgent or id-fic, whatever form that takes, because the canon is basically self-indulgent gothic id-cinema, so you can't go wrong.


Cracked: After Hours | Soren Bowie, Daniel O'Brien, Katie Willert

A new friend just put me onto this recently, and it's so much fun! I want fic for it because I want more of the characters in general. I'm requesting these three because I'm okay with Soren/Daniel or Soren/Katie or all three; I left out Michael because he's not my favorite. However. If they're an OT4 for you (in a poly sense, or a platonic one; since I think most people will probably have offered all four), please feel free to mentally add Michael into that list above and continue on. Likewise, if you want to pick just two, that's fine as well!

I know a lot of the fic in this fandom is in the same general format as the show; I know a lot of people in the past have specifically requested that. I don't care about the format of fics - I care about tone. So make it lighthearted and sarcastic and fun, but I don't care if it's one scene about their outside lives or if it's an episode format or if it's straight up 5+1 fic. Write what works for you, don't worry about trying to make it read like an episode of the show.

Tropes (a lot of my tropes here are recycled from up above; I really like the same types of tropes, okay!)

• Soulmates: OT3/OT4 soulmates - like both sections above! :D Soulmates is always a trope option.
• Soulbonding! Esp. of the sudden/unexpected kind; see prompt below.
• Protectiveness, particularly characters being surprised by their own protectiveness

• Correlated to codependency: that thing where everyone else really thinks they're weird, and, more importantly, they think everyone else is really weird. Especially if they're surprised by how annoying/weird they find other people when they have to interact with outsiders a lot for some sudden reason.
• Being put in a situation where one character is surprisingly comfortable/capable and it surprises the rest
• Being put in a situation where one character is surprisingly uncomfortable and it surprises the rest

Prompts

• Okay, so soulbonding of the sudden kind in this fandom would be hilarious - just a kind of episodic thing where one day soulmates are just a thing and moreover, they're all each others, even if only temporarily. Perhaps especially if it's only temporary.
• They're all really good friends - anything about one of them (Soren's the most obvious, but I think it would work with any of them) being surprised to realize by some situation just how good of friends they are.
• They're all good friends, but maybe they've never actually gotten to know each other outside their specific bubble of interaction, so…sharing a bed. Make one/two of them need to go home with the other, and be introduced to their apartment/pets, and then awkward domestic squabbling ending in bedsharing.
• Telepathy - especially sudden-onset, uncontrollable and possibly intermittent telepathy - would be amazing.
• A 5+1 fic where it could be, five other universes/situations where they still are friends that sit down and talk shit, and one where they're not (one where they're not friends, and why, or one where they're, ahem, friends)
• If you're writing me a pairing/ot3/ot4, please write me a get together fic. I don't even care if you show them once they are together, but awkward friends-to-lovers get together trope is made for this fandom.

Do Not Wants

• I do not want a literal new episode of the show - please do not write me a fic of just them sitting around the table and talking about some aspect of modern media. That can be part of it, but I'd like the fic to have some character development or outside development of their lives.
• I don't really want a fic where they have to tell the others about their new relationship/where the others figure out and/or talk about their new relationship. I just find those kinds of fics boring.
• Don't write a happy-family fic where they're all, idk, living together in the future. Especially don't give them babies/children, or make Katie pregnant.

Kinks

Yes, Please:

• Polyamory! Open relationships! Anything like that.
• Teasing. In the sexual sense, verbally especially but also physically is okay; but also in the general "I am going to frustrate you by teasing you/disagreeing with you because it's hilarious and I enjoy seeing you ruffled and enthusiastic" kind of way.

No, Thank You:

• Exhibitionism/voyeurism: I'm usually okay with it, but for some reason I really don't want it in this fandom. Voyeurism/exhibitionism among the four of them would be fine; voyeurism/exhibitionism of them with the entire other occupancy of the diner would not.
• No extreme public humiliation: since the canon literally always has them making fun of each other, and they're in public, this…might come up? Even just tangentially. And it's okay! But please don't give me straight up D/s levels of public humiliation kink.
