Wow
I've been sick as a dog for the last couple of days so I took yesterday off from working overtime to give myself a chance to recharge for tonight. Speaking of which, I should really be getting to bed.
One quick observation though.
I brought my mom to her physical therapy appointment and then we went to Giant, a supermarket. I think I saw half of the male population of the lehigh valley in this supermarket buying grossly overpriced gross flowers for Valentine's Day at noon on Valentine's Day.
I thought that this was simply an overused cliche for comedians. I don't think I had ever really seen it with my own eyes. Giant was so ridiculously busy trying to keep up with these guys that they had a special "Valentine's Day Express Lane" and they had accountants and managers working the registers to deal with the rush.
I've bought flowers before and I never saw the appeal because they are ephemeral to an non-practical degree. I mean, sure, I appreciate the whole cherry blossom, beauty is fleeting sort of ephemerality but those are flowers that I get to see. Buying flowers that then die in the next two or three days makes poor sense to me. I have to say though that I have used proflowers.com a couple of times now and they last for two weeks or so.
