Just a quick update / run down / new website
I saw that I was getting close to the 1-year mark which is, well, patently ridiculous. Then again, the course my life seems to have taken over the almost 52 weeks is equal parts comedy and drama.
Quick updates done via bullets
1) I'm still working as a Molecular Beam Epitaxy technician. My standard shift is N2 (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and every other Wednesday from 7 P.M to 7:30 P.M.) but I've been training on D1 so I've been working Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday from 7 A.M. to 7:30 P.M. This has been going on since Thanksgiving and I'm getting a little burnt out but it should end by the new year. This is also why I am currently awake. I need to go take a nap for work tonight so please excuse any lapses in grammar, style or coherence. I started this job on 5/7/06, and have received two promotions already and it looks like I'm on my way to a third. I'm also doing my best to maybe become an engineer at some point. Engineers have interesting jobs at the place but the biggest demerit against them is that they are, essentially, on call (I've had to call them at 3 and 4 in the morning). The salary, starting at ~85K, can make up for some of that.
2) Brandi and I got custody of my niece in July. We probably should have seen this coming as my sister is the worst person on the planet but I got the call while I was in Vegas, at a bachelor party. Trying to explain to friends how I came back from Vegas with a 5-year old was comical. This was a rather large change as I had just gotten off of the 5 day a week schedule so I had some free time. This free time was quickly gobbled up by Hannah Montana and Cory in the House.
3) We tried to get a new apartment. This was thwarted by a severe mold infestation. Well, to make a very long story short, we are now living in a much better neighborhood in a much better apartment for ~$30 more a month and we get two-way cable and internet service (ADSL sucks my ass). We recently served the old apartment complex a lawsuit to the tune of $1k+
4) My mom moved in with us. This was especially rocky at first (more to come) but has actually become quite comfortable. The fact that she cooks ridiculously good meals for us and has them ready by the time Brandi gets home and I get up is very ingratiating. It is also the secondary reason that my ass is currently getting bigger.
5) My sister, further proving that she is the worst person on the planet, revokes custody the weekend after my mom moves in. She tells Jenna that she will never see any of us again and suddenly has the money and resources to have someone come up from NY, get Jenna, and then ferry her off to Texas. This has been especially hard recently with the holidays coming up but we're dealing.
6) I have a new website. My job can be very boring and it offers me free time except that this free time is required to be spent inside a lab with poor phone reception and no direct internet access. It does, for some strange and serendipitous reason, allow for photoshop access so I spent some time making designs for t-shirts and stuff.
I know that I haven't been around much but if anyone has any feedback on the site (design/the products/etc) I'd really appreciate it. Also, if anyone checks it out and decides that they want something by Christmas, the final day is tomorrow or Friday.
