Still here?

So. It's been a while. Again!

Really, not much happened in my life since the time of my last entry. Work is work, I'm still alive and healthy, and the apocalypse didn't happen. I attended a few more conventions, made some adjustments in my photography, and... those are all the noteable events. My life is so exciting!

CONVENTIONS
I attended three other furry conventions after Anthrocon ended. Two of those were IndyFurCon and Furlaxation. I won't go into great detail about them, but I will say that I didn't enjoy either convention. Both were 'small' conventions (less than 500 total attendees), and... well, I'm starting to think that the smaller conventions really aren't for me.

I like Anthrocon and Midwest FurFest because there's a lot to do, with a lot of people in attendances. There's always something happening (at any reasonable time), and just trying to do and experience everything I can at a convention can be fun. With the smaller conventions, I'm waiting for things to do and people to see, and trying to create some kind of fun for myself. More often than not, I find myself near boredom or walking around in circles at at a smaller convention, and that's just not worth the ~$500 I have to spend to attend.

Midwest FurFest, on the other hand, was amazing. I've attended only four of them, but this year's convention was the best of all of 'em, for me. Most of it is a blur of fun times and good memories, but there was something about the convention, this year. I can't describe it. Everything just felt... right. Needless to say, I'll return in 2013, and I'm already looking forward to it.

But before MFF begins again, I have to survive Furry Connection North (April) and Anthrocon (July). Hotel rooms for FCN are nearly gone, and the convention is more than three months away. The first official day of Anthrocon will be on July 4, this year. I have a feeling that both FCN and AC will be pure madness, this year... and I can't wait for it!

As usual, my convention photos are at my photo website, in the Events area. Credit me (Abrahm) for the photography if you repost or reuse any of the images.

PHOTOGRAPHY
I went back to the Nikkor 50/1.8G, after the disappointing experience I had with the 50/1.8D that I used to shoot at Anthrocon. The results were much better, and going back to the G lens was a good decision. And recently, this happened:

I bought a Nikkor 24-70/2.8G lens (and yes, I had to take a photo of it). At $1900US, it was an expensive move to make. But my first round of testing has shown that I will be very pleased with it. I'm already impressed with its performance wide open, at f/2.8, and it gets better when stopped down. I'll have to do more thorough testing, but the winter weather will make that difficult. Still, I have no regrets or remorse from buying it.

There isn't much else to say. I suppose you can ask questions if you really want to know more or are curious about something else. However, I can't promise that I'll give you an interesting answer or story. Also, I tend to do a bit more 'talking' at Twitter and Google+. But I don't have lots to say at those places, either. So, uh... yeah.

Later!
