Muhahahahahhahahhahah! It's my favorite day of the year, and as far as I'm concerned, the place to be is outside! I already had my birthday a few days ago, so celebrating bigtime is a bit redundant, but that still doesn't mean I can't have a good time. So anyway, here's a fine collection of videos I found on Youtube to get into the spirit of things. Enjoy!

This is easily one of the best videos on Youtube. Great collection of clips and some great music. The first (and longest) song by Ray Noble, The Haunted House was written in 1931, the same year that the films Dracula(and the Spanish remake), Frankenstein, M, Svengali, The Mad Genius, The Drums of Jeopardy and Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde were released. What a time to be alive.

This comes from the 1986 documentary Hollywood Ghost Stories, hosted by Gaston Morell himself, John Carradine. HGS is fun in and of itself, if a bit dated, but this video from the end is silly 80's fun at it's best. Nice lyrics too: "I got the letter you sent me, the night you took your own life". You couldn't get away with something that creepy for a song on an all-ages appropriate documentary today. What in the hell is the clip of those fat cartoon ghosts from? Is that blond chick who snarls at the screen from the band or a movie? Don't make sense of it, just enjoy.

Now that's how you promote a video game, public domain horror clips.

I really ought to review Spider Baby in it's entirety someday, it's such a perfect little bit of 60's nuttiness. These titles are perfect for setting the mood, like a more sinister version of Monster Mash. Funniest of all, if it was released today, the style of music would undoubtedly be called Rap. Lon Chaney Jr: actor, notorious drinker(like me!), son of silent film genius, and rapper. What a guy.

Bing Crosby at his peak, people. The old groaner was often said to have a more sinister side than you would think from his music, and I guess it came out here. Note the relish in his voice. By all means, see the cartoon it was used in, Disney's The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad too, it's still the best version of Irving's story ever done.

Awesome. Love those witch marionettes. I first saw this clip on the Monsters Crash the Pajama Party DVD and then again on the History Channel's Haunted History of Halloween documentary, still have no idea where it originated from.

Probably the best(and creepiest) thing on here. Big Band music at it's absolute finest.

As perfect a combination of the macabre and joyful as you can get. Love the bit where the guy in the skeleton suit is used as an instrument himself. As Louis would say, what a wonderful world. Most other versions of this song seem to eliminate the other sound effects and the narrration, so as far as I'm concerned this is the definitive version.

Gotta love the "Oh crap" expression he gives, even without a head. That song is pretty catchy too.

Annoying as some people found him, I actually miss old Pizza Head. I'm no fast food eater, but he gave Pizza Hut the only identity they ever had. These commercials are fun, and I like the sets. Kinda makes me want to go to Pizza Hut in hopes that a giant pumpkin would fall on everyone. That would be the best way to go ever.
Happy Halloween!
