Now for the write up. Chris arrived at my house at around 7:00pm. I had torn down all my gear the night before and started carrying it all outside at around 6:00 so that all we'd have to do is load it into Chris' car and drive to Stardust. We managed to get everything loaded within 15 minutes or so and got to Stardust by around 7:45. We went in and told the girl behind the counter that we were performing that night and she gave us the go ahead to start setting up, but told us we would have to start at 9:30 rather than 9:00 like we were originally supposed to. For some unknown reason, there were six industrial sized bags of packing peanuts in different colors lined up on the stage. We suspect they were some strange (and rather bland) piece of installation art. We moved them to the sides as we were told to do. I started dragging our stuff in bit by bit, while Chris' set to work attempting to set up the house PA system. After a few trips in and out, Chris alerted me to the fact that the house speakers were completely blown. Only one of the speakers was even remotely usable, so after we brought the rest of the stuff in, Chris was able to call his dad and ask him to bring along his PA system so we could borrow it. While we were waiting, we got to work assembling the rest of our gear so that when the sound system arrived, all we'd have to do is set it up and jack into it.

We finished setting all our equipment up at about 8:30. usfnat and her brother showed up at around 9:00. Chris' dad showed up at about 9:30 so we hurried to setup the speakers and then I would start my set right away after the soundcheck. Right while we were doing the soundcheck, orcapotter called Stardust to talk to me. She called to let me know that she was hopelessly lost in the middle of Winter Park and couldn't find Stardust. She apologized and said that she was going to turn around and go home. I wasn't so much concerned about her being able to see me play at this point, but that she would be able to find her way home from where she was. She sounded pretty distraught so it worried me, but I had to let her go as I had to start in less than a minute. It was absolutely pouring outside at this point. I reluctantly let her go and got on stage to start my set. Unfortunately, I had to cut about 6 or more songs from it because of the late start, but I still managed to make the transitions work on the fly. Once I got started playing, things went a lot more smoothly. While only a few people Chris and I invited were able to come, there were a few regulars who hung out and watched us curiously. Surprisingly, people seemed to like my more experimental/noise tracks more than anything else, and some drunk guy even asked if I had a cd out. My dad showed up for a few songs and said he liked it a lot more than he expected to. At 10:15 or so, I finished off my set and Chris started his. I felt a little sorry for him as his mom kept talking to him when he wasn't playing (as you can here in the recording). Although short, his set turned out alright as well, I think. Chris finished off his set at 11:00 right before Stardust was about to close. Everyone said their goodbyes and headed home, while Natalie and her brother helped us pack our stuff and load it into the car again.

All in all, it was a lot more chaos than I would have liked, but overall I think it was a success. If you listen to the mp3's please comment about them, I want to hear what you think. Personally, I think my favorite track of the night for me was "Kosmonaut" (starts at about 31:00). It was the only track I wrote specifically to play live and, thankfully, I didn't f*ck it up at all.

Anyway, that's it. Hopefully the interval between this show and the next one will be a lot shorter this time around.
