I love the weekends

Jun 14, 2004 02:23

Aight, it's Sunday night/Monday morning...however you want to look at it. Just sitting here winding down from the weekend. I worked Mon-Thurs at one job, 10-12 hour days. I put in 45 hours there. Friday - Sunday, I worked another job. Put in fucking 42 hours. 87 hours in one fucking week. Get this tho, this weekend, I was painting the inside of this barn. A guy had bought it, moved it up from central OH, and he refinished it inside. Place looks brand new. He needed the place painted, but he was going out of town this weekend. So, I go in, I paint the place in 3 days. he shows up tonight, right as I'm finishing up and flips his shit. Cus he wasn't expecting the place to get painted. He was going to hire some kids to do it this week.

So he shows up, he's pretty happy that all the shit is done, and says to me, "what do I owe you for this man?" And I honesty dont give a shit, cus I'm gettin paid hourly right now anyway, so I'm already makin loot, under the table (the way it oughtta be). So I say that I don't care, and he says, come by on Monday, I'll have 500 bucks for you. OK. so, I get paid hourly, for 42 hrs of work, under the table, at $7/hr. so that's damn close to 300 bucks. this guy is givin me 500 on top of that. so, in 3 days, i made 800 bucks...

Now I know 7 bucks an hour aint shit, but it's job number 3 in my lineup. I paint hosues at 14/hr...I work at a marina fixing up boats at 9/hr...and i've been helping out my mom and her 2 friends opening their business (which is opening in this barn). We got kicked off our last job painting houses cus the owner for the house is a prick. so i've been workin jobs 2 + 3 for the last week and a half. should start the high paying painting job back up on Tuesday.

Anyway. I'm tired as shit, but sunburned as shit too. So laying down doesn't exactly get me to sleep. Sitting here, listening to the Postal Service, who everyone needs to check out, if you haven't already. It's like this 80's pop/synth kind of sound, with Ben Gibbard singing, the guy from Death Cab for Cutie. Jimmy Tamborello (DNTEL) produces the music, and there is a girl that sings on a few tracks; her voice is absolutely gorgeous. Great idea to blend 80's electronic music, with strait from the heart, indie-rock vocals. Few records I have heard in a while make me think and feel the way this one does...Yoshimi (Flaming Lips), Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (Wilco), Transatlanticism (Death Cab) are about it.

Enough of my babbling. I'm gonna go try and sleep for a bit, before I have to go to work in 4 hours. Gotsta get paid. you know...

You seem so so out of context in this gaudy apartment complex
A stranger with your door key explaining that I'm just visiting
And I am finally seing why I was the one worth leaving
The district sleeps alone tonight after the bars turn out their lights
And send the autos swerving into the loneliest evening
And I am finally seeing why i was the one worth leaving
