Okay, slept for 3 hours and need to get ready for work! But initial reaction....

The Good

Loved the character moments - Yates really does love these characters and he gets their importance to each other. Harry and Ron hugging and late night chatting and Ron in Harry's bed, just about sent me over the edge!

Harry and Ginny development was done better than I had hoped. Many great moments I can't wait to see again.

WWW - the joke shop scene was amazing. So much detail for a short scene, thank you WB for giving us that.

Michael Gambon - oh thank you!!! You FINALLY became Dumbledore! You were light hearted and didn't scream at children this time! There is one scene where Dumbledore realizes that Harry IS A HORCRUX, and there are tears in Gambon's eyes. Dumbeldore look in great pain for realizing it and I totally lost it. It was a great movie moment.

Rupert, Dan, and even Tom - were perfect! They have become such great actors, there were too many great moments to even name!

The Bad

Some of the pacing was a little jumpy for me. I was one who liked the newspaper transitions in 5. This time there were a lot of sweeping shots and from my angle in the movie theater did not look great, but I will reserve judgement for another seat angle. There is so much to get in, I think HP movies will always have a bit of a flow problem.

The final scene with the trio. I was SERIOUSLY disappointed with the dialogue. First Ron was sitting there looking like an eavesdropper. Why didn't Ron have any lines? If Hermione and Ron are making the decision to go with Harry- this is a big deal! And in the book the scene where Ron and Hermione say they will go with Harry, it is out of love. Not because as Hermione says, "you know you can't find horcruxes without us!" It is not because Harry is incapable of find the horcruxes alone - it is out of their devotion, loyalty, and most of all love of Harry that motivated them.

Seriously though Yates is my friend and I am thrilled he is taking our series to the end. He has a love for the books that shows on screen and I can't wait to see HBP on Thursday with some crazy HP fans!!!
