Only quibble I have is that I can't ever see Jack being described as a 'good' man and I don't really know if Kate would necessarily think he is either. He's as duplicitous as anyone else on that island and I think Jack looks out for Jack's own interests, no one else's.

Well, you know *I* don't think Jack's a good man, by any means. But Kate...I think Kate sees what she wants to see, when it comes to him. He's her good/safe "type" (doctor Tom, cop Kevin), the type of man she goes to when she needs to feel like she's not all bad. He helps other people (regardless of his motivations and/or the outcomes, he does) and I think she always likes that she can be a part of that when she's with him.

Honestly though? I might have made that up so I can justify her liking him in my mind. ;) Because seriously, Kate? wtf?

That song complements this unbelievably well :)

And she finds out that he wasn't the safe choice after all, because there is nothing about this that doesn't hurt.

This part especially is so perfect it's heartbreaking. Great fic!

This was really amazing, I usually avoid Kate/Sawyer/Jack fics like the plague (they're really just not my thing) but the summary for this one had me intrigued. You did a really good job getting in Kate's head and you actually had me feeling sympathetic for her which says a lot, great job.
