(no subject)
Those of you who read my personal LJ know I've recently stepped away from discussing LOST/participating in LOST fandom (other than reading/writing fanfic, that is). But, I have a LOST-related question, and as it's more of a factual/what-is-canon-and-what-is-not question, I wanted to ask it here. It may or may not be relevant to a fanfic I'm attempting to plan out...
Wow. That was a rambling, drawn-out way to say hey guys, I have a question! (or three or four) So:
In perusing Lostpedia tonight, I discovered they actually have separate character pages for the flash-sideways versions of characters. (I find this distinction strange, but that's neither here nor there.) Now, I'm well aware that Lostpedia is not the be-all, end-all. But I found the following (under the cut) on Kate's flash-sideways page:
While trying kill her biological father, Wayne, instead Kate accidentally killed an apprentice plumber named Ryan Millner in the blast.[1] She was later featured in a segment of America's Most Wanted.
Now, unless this information was revealed in tonight's episode, which I haven't seen yet (and that's not where the Lostpedia reference points, anyway), I'm confused. It certainly hasn't been on the show yet. The sole source for this information seems to be a promotional video shown at the '09 Comic Con - basically a fake America's Most Wanted segment on Kate blowing up this plumber guy.
So, my question to all of you is, should this info be considered canon? What do you consider canon? Just the show? Any material put out by the producers? Other source material? I'm inclined to say not until it's been on the show itself, but...*shrug* I'm curious.
Also: thanks to all of you who made the Five Acts meme such an awesome thing! I'm so very delighted by the fics that were gifted me (you can find them all here), and bummed that I was only able to write two. I know the meme is over, but I may be trying to finish up some more people's requests if I can get my shit together this week and write some more. So, I may be dropping off some late ficlets. I'll try my darnedest!
