That was lovely, and Charlie adored Aaron so the concept of his spirit keeping a close eye is easy to believe. Such a sweet idea, and you executed it perfectly without ever crossing the thin line and making it too sappy. :)

Thank you so much :) I'm glad you didn't think it too sappy; that's a danger I definitely wanted to avoid.

It can be so hard to get the balance right but this was just right. It had a perfect bittersweetness to it.

This was lovely. I like how Charlie only spoke a few words and was only there to play music as a comfort, I imagine, to himself and Aaron. I also thought Kate's paranoia about strangers was spot-on.

I really loved this. Kate's paranoia about strangers seemed spot on. And just the thought of Charlie playing music for Aaron makes my heart ache, in a good way. Beautiful job!

I loved this. Of course Charlie would appear to Aaron. If he'd appear to his BFF Hurley, then it's only natural and right that he'd also appear to the child he thought of as a son. I love how you included every detail -- Charlie the "music man" playing Beatle's songs, Charlie calling Aaron Turniphead (lol, that brings back memories!), and then the bittersweet detail of Charlie closing with "Catch a Falling Star" -- Claire's song. I love how subtly you wove Aaron's real mother into the story. And I love the final part where Aaron decides it's okay for Charlie to be there because they're not strangers anymore. Thank you for posting this little gem!

Thank you so much for reading and such a great comment! I'm so glad you liked this and that it made sense that Charlie would appear to Aaron. Ever since he started being dead-but-also-here and appearing places, I've kind of hoped he'd show up to watch over Aaron, too. Thanks again!
