That Something About You
I was recently staying in a motel and the complimentary soap reminded me of my all time favorite salient detail in a fanfic; Fox Mulder smelled like Motel 6 soap. (For the life of me, I can't remember the writer or the fic, but I was so jealous that I didn't come up with it first!)
As someone who's stayed in this motel chain, I can attest there's a very particular odor to that soap and thus it's a fantastic detail--something visceral and specific.
