This story took me back to the time when I was a little girl and watched figure skating on tv.

Surprising and creative AU.

A great find Richard Adar as the trainer, I could picture that in my mind.

I also liked how lovely you worked the book reading into the story.

I'm curious about all the things that happened to Bill and Laura in the past.

I'm glad you think this is creative! I've been an obsessive fan of figure skating for 7 years now, and I've read all sorts of books and whatnot on it. I loved getting to combine all my knowledge about the sport with my love of BSG, and trying to make the two very disparate worlds work together!

Working in additional book readings was totally Aussiegirl's idea, so she gets the credit for that :) Originally the only book reading mentioned was when he was helping her sleep the night before the figures competition, if I remember correctly!

Chapters 3 and 4 are also set in 1972, so you'll get to see more of young!Laura and young!Bill there before we head back to 2010 :)

Thank you for reading!

Thank you for writing, especially as you put a lot of work in it.

Can't wait for more young Laura and Bill, I'll be looking forward to it. Will they be posted here as well?

Great and original idea!! Of course being Canadian I've watched my share of figure skating. :) I really loved this fic, it was such a great mix of canon and AU. Lots of great bits including the sushi scene, very funny and the giggling scene, so smart of Bill to calm her down with a kiss and the ending scene where she calls Bill family. I look forward to the next chapters!! Excellent work!!

Oh, man, I wish I could claim Patrick Chan and Virtue/Moir as my own, you lucky Canadians. Have fun celebrating those gold medals they're gonna win next year ;)

I'm glad you enjoyed the fic, and thank you so much for reading!

I was hanging out on survival instinct when I saw this, and read it over there!
But thought I would comment here:)
LOVED IT!!!

Now I have mental problem placing Bill on ice skates let alone figure skating!! LOL
But I don't think that part got in the way of the real story!

OMG when he went to the locker room and she was giggling uncontrollably!
I thought my little shippy heart would BURST!!! Him holding her and rubbing her back:,)
But then he KISSED HER!!

So when will we be seeing the rest of this??!!!!!!
Just went back and read the preface! Lol
Soooo excited to see 10 chapters of this!!!

Lol, I know what you mean about Bill. When I joked to a friend about this idea and started giggling uncontrollably, that was why, but then I thought of, as I said, Evan Lysacek, who has not in any way the ideal skating body type (way, way too tall - actually his body type kind of reminds me of the hot guy they got playing Bill in Blood & Chrome) and yet he managed to win the Olympics in 2010. I picture Bill skating like Evan, only even less artistically, and with less hair gel, lmao.

I'm glad you're excited! I started working on the 4th chapter today, so as soon as that is done I'll have the 3rd chapter up, and so on and so forth. :)

Oh. My. God.
This is SUCH a good idea. Not to post it right now (see, I'm kind of supposed to be doing a totally different thing), but to write it at all =D I LOVE how you describe the scenes, and the characters, and... everything!
Thank you so much for sharing =D I can't wait to read what's next!
Telle.

Thank you so much! Chapters 3 and 8 are completed, and I'm a little over half-way done with Chapter 4. I'll put 3 up once I finish 4 :)

Ha! This is so fun!! And shockingly it really dovetails with my fic in a lot of ways (Laura is Kara's coach there too of course.) So hopefully if you do read mine, you'll enjoy it!

(Is it too much to hope that Kara left Bill because of feeeelings for Leland? <3 ;) Dee is Lee's former skating partner in my fic. Heh.)

I loved that the way they finally kiss is Bill trying to snap Laura out of her giggle fit. It's cracky and sweet all at once!

Lol, you will see why Kara left Bill in a later chapter ;)

I feel like Laura as Kara's coach and Dee/Lee and Kara wanting Lee, etc., are all just so obvious and clear choices for a figure skating fanfic. I'm glad, honestly, that I didn't come across yours until after I'd already written the first four chapters, because I think it would have made me feel insecure to realize that we made so many similar decisions! Great minds think alike, right? ;)

Awesome! Are you posting one or two chapters every week roughly? I'll have to check back!

My fic follows the movie fairly closely except for a few diversions here and there, and it really mostly dwells on the K/L relationship, though Bill & Laura's relationship is a bit of a minor mirror for theirs. So it's not really THAT similar but it brings back all those ice!pilots feelings for me reading yours. Hee. :)

I love your drunk Saul and Ellen pairs skatesr too! And Bitchy Ellen! Ha.

I wish I could say that I was a consistent enough writer to have a schedule, but I'm not. However, I am hoping to hunker down and get a few pages done today, hopefully! We'll see.
