twitter is to follow the stars LOL mary has a twitter!!! i can't wait for major crimes ♥ and the shortness makes it interesting =D
tumblr is for graphics more than writing and having a convo on tumblr is frustrating, and yeah, being no writer i really like the site but as a reader i can't keep up with posts, i hate reading on tumblr, it only works for roleplays and short messages, not fanfictions. and it's also full of people judging other people, hate and fandom drama and i just keep to my little fluff heaven full of kitteh pics and teddy hugs =P
ff.net... is ok, but recently underwent a 'purge' as i understood it and it's not a welcoming place for comments and commenters, you can't really have an exchange with other users, only PMs to the author and no interaction with other readers =( the cool thing is it's full of fandoms =D and while on LJ you have to know where to look and 'find' people, on ff.net they're there, listed, and you can have a site-wide search for fanfictions! =D any ratings, any genre, narrow down your search to your fav chara etc =D i always start there when looking for fictions of a new fandom. all te startgate coolness was there! a lot of DA is there...
i think the first time i did an a/r search on google almost all the pages linked back to LJ so i just said to myself it was time to bring back to life that ancient account i made years ago and never used O.o it worked! =P
i don't think having accounts on different sites is bad for the fandom, you meet new people, make them meet old people XD spread fandom love and find your fav place =) i still think BSG is mostly on LJ while DA and C/H in particular is on tumblr, but being it so bad for fanfictions they post on fanfic.net because LJ is not very welcoming for non expert users =( you can't keep up with new posts if you don't have a f/list (on tumblr you can come across posts from different users because your flist reblogs them) and to make an f/list you have to know where to look... or it's just an empty place
You're right about DA only being on fficnet. I feel like I'm the only one who writes some days. I really should join. *sigh*
Tumblr reblogging? Still haven't worked out how to do that. Or the etiquette involved. I saw some user abusing someone about how they'd posted and I was too skeerid to worry about reblogging! That's the only drama I've noticed though. But thanks for the warning! I have enough drama in my fandom life. ;)
I think the interaction between authors and readers is really important to me, hence my love of LJ. Especially when they are WIPs. I get lots of ideas from reviews. I need to check out ffnet again though, as people have said it's improved in this area. I guess there's still nothing for readers to comment to each other though. I love it when people have great big old spammy chats on my fics!!!
I think the one thing I love much more about LJ is the comms. Sure, you don't know what's on some people's journals unless they are on your f/list, but you can find much more at the comms than you can at tumblr.
Perhaps I need to get a bit more used to it though. Will start on the RP soon. Before Mrs Hughes has a baby. ;)
I've tried to talk Bugs into it. But she doesn't want her life taken over completely by another pairing. I'll have to speak to her again. As if her life isn't already taken over with Bill and Laura...
