Yeah, I'm just gonna say it: Post-reboot, Killer Croc is the best Batman rogue currently. And I can't believe how incredibly awesome and incredibly sad it is. How do you feel about his appearences in Eternal and Gotham Academy?
Because it may due to stories like those that I... Honestly aren't as impressed as everyone else here. While it's definely good that Geoff didn't make him cannibalistic brute, this thing-and I don't just mean the subversion of expectations itself, I mean this specific scene-has been done before and more than once. Heck, I think it could be considered an official Killer Croc story cliche/trope (like Harvey losing his coin) at this point. Now I get that Johns propably had this planned for a while and maybe counted on people buying this being mainly familiar with his character from Arkham games and I AM glad this is the interpetation of Croc we are consistenly seeing but to me, it's less of a "wow, didn't see that coming, that's so awsome" and more of a "Oh. Cool".
Regarding Alfred, I'm not really bothered by it. Different takes are to be expected in AU and I think that is an interesting twist on their dynamic, similarly to how they changed Gordon. What does concern me is whether the story treats him as right. It kinda seems so from these scans.
As to Harvey himself.... Yeah, not hating it but... Meh. I think it would be more interesting if they just switched Harveys. Hell, if you wanna do a twist that people actually wouldn't see coming... Why do that and NOT have him turn into Two-Face? Him reaching the despair horizon and tossing the coin but deciding not to look and continue fighting? How many people would expect that?
Yeah, there's least a variant of the Croc scene in 'Batman: Nine Lives' (which is an excellent Noir-themed Elseworlds if you ever run across it, by the way). It's not so much a scene so much as part of a sequence, but in this version of things, Croc used to be a part of the same circus Dick Grayson was, so when they run across each other in the sewers, Dick's like 'oh, man, Croc, what happened to you, buddy?'
I wrote a long and detailed response, and of course, LiveJournal ate it. The short version is that, no, I'm not, and you'll notice that you're not the only one I haven't responded to, and that I've been responding to only about one comment per day. I already explained to you months ago about the issues of anxiety and depression that I struggle with, so I had hoped that you'd remember that before assuming that my lack of response was due to a dislike of you. It's not.
