A non-review of BATMAN: FORTUNATE SON (AKA "Batman vs the Devil's Music"), plus a question!

Note: This post isn't a review, but is in fact a very roundabout way to asking you all a geeky question for the sake of amusement. You were warned.

I wish I had the time and energy to devote a whole post--nay, a SERIES of posts--to the batshit insanity that is Batman: Fortunate Son.

ALL the things? ALL THE THINGS!

There's something I have to say about KISS, by the way. The Joker is not a fan. I'm sure he admires their theatricality, and he gets the humor in some of their songs that most people miss. (Like "Going Blind," a beautiful, melancholy meditation on a doomed romance...that is rendered absurd by a single line near the end of the song that's delivered as such a throwaway it goes right over most people's heads.) And even though most of their songs are not meant to be humorous, they were one of the primary sources for Spinal Tap, which gives them cred. But I think they lost his respect with the album Psycho Circus (released a year before this book) if they hadn't already lost him with their immensely forgettable glam rock period after Unmasked. Psycho Circus was an attempt to get back to what made KISS fun--the classic style, the makeup, the original members. But none of them had any interest in working together; they only did this for teh moneys because their reunion tour had been so successful. Ace Frehley and Peter Criss quit the damn band for a reason and they didn't want back in, so most of the guitar work on the album was done by the Ace Puppet, and the drums on every song but one were done by some guy. The result was very phoned in, and I think the Joker would take it as an insult that they put a clown face on the cover. (Especially a clown face that looks like the Rob Zombie clown.)

You know who is a KISS fan, though? Firefly.

...it's cooler in person.

Now I've just discovered that Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park is available on YouTube, so I have to go watch KISS fight HUGO STRANGE Jervis Tetch JERGO STRETCH as he replaces them with evil KISSbots to take control of the KISS Army and DESTROY SIX FLAGS! Also the world.
