I've been working on my review of Joker's Asylum: Two-Face. For the past two weeks. And by review, I mean "comprehensive autopsy." This might be one of the biggest, most in-depth critiques I've written, definitely the sort of thing that average comic fan might sniff at and go, "Ugh, you're thinking too much, why don't you just enjoy it or whatever ( Read more... )

He just looks so stupid.

It's really a toss up between him and Harley for who looks more hideously fucking videogamed for this.

and Catwoman is going to get REALLY annoying really quickly.

Hugo and the Joker, on the other hand, they are where the happy is.

Weird idea: Harvey as a playable character in a Batman fighting game.

All of his moves could be named after the various stories featuring him:

The Face Schism - Slams two enemies' heads together.

The Schismed Face - Follow-up to the previous, where he quickly punches both enemies in the face simultaneously.

Double Cross - Exactly what it sounds like; as an opponent launches an attack, Harvey ducks and immediately counters with punches from both arms, one after the other.

Bad Judgment - Sweep-kicks the opponent's legs, knocking them down. Proceeds to stomp the holy hell out of them an even number of times.

Crime & Punishment - Pops the opponent's ears with both fists.

Eyes of the Beholder - Finishing move; knocks the opponent down, growls "Good boys don't do bad things!/Bad boys don't do good things!", and pulls out a pair of .22s, which he jams into the opponent's eye sockets. Then he pulls the triggers.

His RPG stats have made me concerned about his abilities as a hand-to-hand fighter, but no one in fighting games ever really fights to their abilities anyway, plus Harvey today has been trained by Batman and Deadshot alike, so maybe he could hold his own. Everything you describe there? I'd buy THAT for a dollar!

Personally, I'm a fan of the look of Harvey in this game. A nice blending of The Dark Knight and classic styles. While the burned hand doesn't bother me much (I just assumed those burns were self-inflicted to complete the "bad half" look, kind of like in One Year Later), the fact that he doesn't even have a sleeve on that arm does bug me ( ... )

He's written Batman and Robin Adventures #1 and #2, which focused on Harvey with a nice supporting role for the Joker.

That's the only one that comes to mind.

Yeah, aside from Batman and Robin Adventures, Dini's never directly written Harvey. He co-wrote the story for the great episode, Second Chance, but the actual script was by Batman great Gerry Conway. I recall reading that Dini *was* going to do a Harvey story for Detective Comics, right after OYL, but it got sidelined due to Harvey being involved with Salvation Run and whatnot, and it never happened.

It's a shame. I loathe Face the Face, and would have liked to have read what Dini would have done with Harvey from there. I think Dini's epilogue from the Resurrection of Ra's crossover was fifteen times better than any other part of that storyline, including those written by Dini.

Yeah. "Welcome to Gotham, Ra's."

One of the examples of actually using Bat-Dick RIGHT.

Too bad Grant Morrison was busy "reinventing" Joker's character then. I'd have LOVED to see him interact with, ah, "Terry Gene Case".

Also, it seems that the Riddler is going to have a physical appearance in the game as well, as evidenced by this new screenshot: http://community.batmanarkhamcity.com/media/images/screenshots

Lots of baddies going to be in Arkham City, including Black Mask. Those with a really keen eye might have noticed that he's in that new trailer as well.

So is the shirt actually fused to the arm or just tattered?
