Riddler and Scarecrow alike are two characters who just don't get enough stories worthy of them. I actually didn't like Scarecrow until very recently, until I got involved with my Henchgirl, who writes great fic involving Scarecrow (and I mean comics Scarecrow too, which is more cred), and it's since given me a fondness for the guy. Before that, I'd read too many bad comics stories that tainted my view of the character. Ironically, it's the very same reason why so many people (my own Henchgirl, included!) have no real liking for Two-Face.

As for why I do, there are a couple reasons. One is that, from wayyyyy back, I've had a fondness for flawed heroes, villains with good sides to them, and fallen angel characters struggling for redemption.

Harvey was in two of the earliest comics I can remember reading, and he stayed with me until Batman: The Animated Series showed me how awesome he could be, and Batman: Forever showed me how miswritten he often was. And the more crappy Two-Face stories I read, coupled with the more ( ... )
