Thanks for sharing your story :) That video is really telling. They deserve to have their "kindness" shown on the net.
However, I am seriously angry all the time at the protestor who had the nerve to speak rudely to my grandfather,
That rage may be in part due to the pregnancy hormones. I would get into rages like that my first tri of pregnancy - the hormones can blow things up to unmanageable proportions. Meantime, try not to let it get to you. Those people are crazy and their words don't deserve your attention. My husband and I have been called nazis, terrorists, etc... but who cares what these morons think? IMO it's a badge of honor to be disrespected by them.
One thing you might do, though, to kind of take positive action against the woman, is consider volunteering to escort future patients. I volunteer to escort at a local clinic and I find it's empowering to do something to protect women and their support people from these creeps. Just a thought :)
I'm glad everything else went smoothly. I seem to recall you having some uncertainty about your choice, so hopefully that all resolved itself :)
Nope, no uncertainty here, just a little guilt/self-hatred after taking some of the anti-choice slander to heart. I'm feeling much better, ironically after seeing the protestors outside the clinic and realizing that that guilt is what they're going for and I shouldn't buy into it.
I'd love to be what the protestors call a "deathscort", but I live 3 hours from the clinic I went to, and I don't think the Columbia abortion clinic needs escorts (the protestors here seem pretty low-key). If I move back to St. Louis, though, you bet I'll be an escort! :)
