What kind of woman is more likely to regret her abortion? What kind of circumstances lead to regret? What factors?

I went through a really bad phase over mine because I was suffering from a bad bout of anorexia and depression at the time (and the six months following) and was miserable over just about everything. I'm a perfectionist and am very prone to ripping myself to pieces (especially when I am in depression mode), and the abortion definitely gave me ample opportunity to do just that. I was raised by crazy fundamentalists and taught that women who have abortions are murderous whores, and while I knew better than that by the time I actually had one, I still couldn't help feeling like a failure. Especially since my mother had had me at a very young age herself and had she made the choice I did, I wouldn't exist.

So I can see where someone with my religious background and mental health issues having problems with dealing with an abortion. I never actually regretted it, though.

Most of the women I've encountered who seriously regret their abortions are those who didn't want to have them in the first place and let their families, friends, or significant others talk or coerce them into having it anyway.
