Pro-Life Feminism

I know that there are at least a few members of this community who identify as both feminist and pro-life, so I'm hoping this will be an interesting debate ( Read more... )

Question 1:
I think "pro-life feminism" is an oxymoron. You cannot be supportive of women's rights but against a woman's right to decide who gets to live in and feed off her body.

Question 2:
I don't agree with the theory that most abortions happen because of a lack of socialism. IMHO, most women do not abort because gestation, birth, adoption, and parenting are too demanding. It is because they don't want to be pregnant in the first place, for whatever reason.

So, I predict that even in a Leftist Utopia, the primary motive of many (if not most) women would still be that they want to make their pregnancy a non-event.

BTW: Why make abortion illegal if nobody wanted to get one in the first place? I don't have the time to put my thoughts on this into words because I have to get to work, but this reeks. Maybe I'll find the time when I get home.

Question 3:
It would certainly appeal to many politicians who don't want to take a firm stance on abortion and want to collect votes from both camps. There is, however, no middle ground on this issue.
