...or the day when I celebrate the fact that for the last 230 years America has been Not Our Fault. <.insert winky smily, or something equally inane, here>
I had fun, going down to a Park in San Ramon with people to BBQ and then watch the fireworks, which were quite spectacular. Unfortunately, it being a public park, this was meant to be a dry event, so we had to store the beer in people's trunks and sneak around to pour a bottle at a time into plastic cups -- the sneaking around made me feel like a school boy again.
I managed to get rid of the red bananas I'd bought the other day, not realising I was allergic to them (it's them, kiwi fruit and persimmons at current count). Apparently they have to be cooked, so that's why the one bite I had tasted really bad in addition to making my mouth swell up.
During the fire works, we were told that if we tuned our radios to a particular station there'd be patriotic music timed to go with the fireworks. Unfortunately, either different people's radios had different lags on them or some were loud enough and far enough away that we got multiple staggered versions of the music which was rather painful. I also realised that I knew two sets of parody lyrics to the Battle Hymn of the Republic, without actually knowing that they were parodies (I was quite surprised when they started playing Little Peter Rabbit has a Fly upon his Nose which then morphed into Gory, gory, Hallelujah (teacher hit me with a ruler)). I was surprised that they didn't play the National Anthem at any point.
