Yesterday I chilled out all day and it was MARVELOUS. The boredom got to me eventually, but it's okay. Jacob, Ivan, and I went over to Loretta's house to decorate cookie nametags for brunch. Me, Rachel, Stefani, Ivan, Jacob, and Nicole sat around a table with 50 different kinds of sprinkles and frostings and went to town. There were some pretty gruesome ones, like Stef made Uncle Mike a turkey that was pecking the hell out of a man, HAHAHA. We ate Cici's pizza and hung out for a bit before we went home. It was cool having Jacob there, he goes to so many family events like that and they've all started calling him "cousin". I watched Holes last night and bawled my eyes out. Why'd they have to shoot Sam?! Awwww.
Woke up this morning to racket in the kitchen, loud voices and good smelling food. Left almost everyone a "Happy Thanksgiving" comment on MySpace because I was so (ridiculously) excited. You can just tell when it's Thanksgiving, you know? I could feel it. Took a shower, and got dressed while listening to Fallout Boy. Needless to say there was dancing and a lot of bouncing around, hehe. Ivan and I watched Run's House...has anyone seen it? Well, I'm listening to Run DMC with Ivan right now and let me just say, that man is amazing. So is the show; so silly.
We all headed out over to Loretta's for brunch (we do Thanksgiving brunch, not dinner). She had the deck covered in a huge tent containing two adorable decorated tables with the cookie nametags we made yesterday on them. I sat in the middle of Kira and Rachel at the table with mostly kids at it. We said a prayer and the whole huge family dug in. Everything tasted just like it does every year...it tasted like Thanksgiving. Hehe. For the past two years Rachel has fallen backwards out of her chair and she didn't this year. We were relieved, hahaha. Talked to Kira for most of brunch, and also to Jude's daughter who is a physical therapist. The whole bunch of us had a huge laughing attack because it got dead silent and all of a sudden my Mom SCREAMS because there is a bee next to her. She hid behind my Grandma and my uncle was swatting it and I was laughing so hard. Oh, Mommy. Ate until we were sick, literally, I was so disgustingly full.
The cousins went into the living room and watched Look Who's Talking Now and made fun of Stefani because she freaks out at the beginning part. You know, the start of every Look Who's Talking movie has the egg and sperm deal? She purposely went to go get a soda at that part and we were cracking up. Most of the adults went downstairs to watch the football game in the kick ass rec room. Little Mike showed up finally which I was happy about (he had hockey practice). He simply said, "Eva", and gave me this look. It was a cautious look, but also comforting as if he was making sure I was all right. I knew exactly what he was implying at, and returned with a half smile and a "Mike". That was that. I love my cousin, I love him for looking after me and caring about what happened and how I feel. After a couple more hours of mingling, we all headed out. Aunt Vickey and Jude are going up to Salida to visit Jude's family and will be back Saturday.
When we got home, the house was pretty empty. Grammie was upstairs cooking more food, Ivan was downstairs, and Mom was in her room. For some reason, it felt really lonely. I went upstairs and freaked out because I kept getting signs...and Ali knows what I'm talking about. Certain songs would come on or I would find things and it was absolutely driving me crazy. I was in the weirdest mood ever so I came downstairs and hung out with Ivan. Meaning he and I turned on our X-Box playlist and jammed out. Singing loud and off key to Outkast, Run DMC and Fallout Boy. I feel fine now.
The day is hardly over yet.
I love Ivan. He was sleeping on the couch this morning and I heard him start to get up, so I jumped on top of him and he jokingly hugged me until I begged him to let me go. On the way to Lerd's house there was this really obnoxious song on the radio that my Mom loves, and he laughing SO hard at me. I was purposely making disgusted faces and jokes...partly because the song really was annoying as hell, but partly because I like making him laugh. I love it when he thinks I'm the funniest person in the world.
My Mom has some weird issues with my family. She always says she was born into the wrong one. She's really immature about it and it absolutely pisses me off, but today at brunch she was cool. I watched her eat with her brothers and sisters and she was laughing. Laughing, enjoying herself, and being silly. Anna said to me, "Your Mom looks really good." It's true, today she just emitted this wonderful energy.
I wonder what Shauna is doing? I'm sure brunch or dinner or whatever at Kathy's house is over by now. I think I'll give her a call here soon, I really miss her. The last time I talked to her was brief because Schuyler was over and I was about to burn a frozen pizza, hahaha. Oh, you know what I just remembered? Mikey and Chloe are with her. Duh. She must be spending time with them right now. Hopefully Mikey is having fun finally being around family and most importantly, Miss Chloe.
So, I must just say, I LOVE THE KALUSH FAMILY. I'm absolutely blessed to have cousins who are like brothers and sisters. A million cousins that I love with all my heart and would do anything for. Cousins who are some of my best friends. Each and every one of my 60+ family members make me proud to be part of that community. At one point Jude's daughter said to Maya, "Maya, could you imagine ever having a family like this?" I was proud. Proud to be at that table and grateful to be surrounded by people who love eachother. I miss the Michigan family members, and even though half reside there, we manage to make it feel whole. I feel whole with them. How many people can say that? I'm blessed. I feel like a huge cornball, but guess what? I love my family! I love that I have a big, loud, loving, funny, Lebanese family!
A-FUCKING-MEN!
Thank you for reading (or skimming, or possibly just scrolling down to the bottom). HAHAHA, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
