Okay, maybe not yet; but, I gotta say, tonight's episode was the stinker to end all stinkers.
It's like they looked at last week's ep and said, "Hey, wait a minute... we're taking the show in new and interesting directions. We're making characters grow and plots turn and watchers wonder if this season might not just feel like a rerun. We better nip this in the bud! This is WAY too much for our users to expect from us."
So, lets recap....
- Sylar seemed to be gaining a soul. Good thing that's over, we haven't seen him buzz-saw people's heads enough.
- Sylar's dead... wait... NO HE ISN'T!
- Noah is angry that someone messed with Claire. So, rather than take care of his daughter, he runs away and avenges her while she needs him.
- Claire has been shot and killed and her Mom is sad... wait... NO SHE HASN'T!
- Hiro is infantile and excited about his powers. Also, he's a comic book buff.
- Matt Parkman has gotten himself into a co-dependent relationship.
- One of the heroes is in love with a woman who has a disability and it causes friction between them.
- Nathan Petreli has decided that power is more important than not being a douche.
- Mohinder is back to his old self and is once again interesting... wait... NO HE ISN'T!
Now, that said, there are differences between this episode and last season:
- Matt Parkman's love interest is blonde, spunky, and speedy; albeit judgmental, self-damning, and whiny.
- Angela Petreli didn't show up to sneer at her kin. I expect her to make up for it double next episode.
- "The Haitian" is no longer silent, nor is he referred to as "The Haitian." In fact, I don't think they referred to him at all, outside of pronouns. He simply speaks and they listen. His power knows no end.
At this point, I really feel like I'm watching out of habit. Maybe they'll redeem themselves, but it's been 2 years and all they've done is make literary promises they can't keep.
I hope I'm wrong, but Heroes may have jumped the shark.
