* This tutorial works best with images that has an orange-yellow colour as its main colour. * = note
Take your base and let's start. I used this image.

01. Duplicate your base. Set it to Screen. I let the opacity to 100% but that's up to you.

* it brightens the icon.

02. Layer->New adjustment layer->Selective color.
REDS:
cyan: -65
magenta: 0
yellow: +14
black: +65

YELLOWS:
cyan: 0
magenta: 0
yellow: -50
black: 0

NEUTRALS:
cyan: 0
magenta: -42
yellow: -30
black: 7

* this step is to define the colors of the image. Add some red and a bit of green. Very important for the final look.

03. Layer > New fill layer > Solid color.
color: #ffdada mode: Soft Light opacity: 100%

* this lights the icon and gives a pink-ish color.

04. Layer->New adjustment layer->Selective color.
REDS:
cyan: -76
magenta: 0
yellow: 0
black: 0

YELLOWS:
cyan: 0
magenta: 0
yellow: +42
black: 0

NEUTRALS:
cyan: 0
magenta: -13
yellow: -18
black: +100

BLACKS:
cyan: 0
magenta: 0
yellow: 0
black: +100

* too much pink never was my taste. This is to get rid of pink and give to the skin a nice orange-red-even a bit of pink (>>) tone.

05. Layer->New adjustment layer->Color balance.
MIDTONES:
-20 | -8 | -7

* reduce the quantity of red.

06. Layer->New adjustment layer->Levels.
RGB:
20 | 1,09 | 240

* highlights the icon.

07. Layer->New adjustment layer->Levels.
RED:
48 | 0,89 | 255
GREEN:
22 | 1,15 | 255
BLUE:
56 | 1,23 | 219

* reduce the red, add more green and yellow. Gives to the skin a nice color.

08. Layer->New adjustment layer->Channel mixer.
RED:
red: 100
green: -14
blue: 12
GREEN:
red: 2
green: 100
blue: 1
BLUE:
red: -12
green: 100
blue: 10

* the skin is too white-pink; this step changes the skin color and adds more yellow to the hair.

09. Layer > New fill layer > Solid color.
color: #f1f1f1 mode: Soft Light opacity: 58% fill: 60%

* highlights the icon and gives to the colors nice vibes.

10. Layer->New adjustment layer->Selective color.
GREENS:
cyan: -100
magenta: +100
yellow: -100
black: +100

BLACKS:
cyan: 0
magenta: 0
yellow: 0
black: +100

* should look good, neh? but I don't like that green on the jacket so this step gets rid of the red and turns it into black.

11. Duplicate your base and drag it to the top. Set it to Soft Light; opacity 30% ; fill 20% .

* gives a nice vibe to the colors. You're done.

I hope you like the coloring and your results. :)
