Hello, lovely fellow Rare Ship Swap person! I’m really happy that we’ve been matched. You obviously have excellent taste, since you’ve offered one of my ships. ;) But seriously, thank you for writing for me, and I’m really excited to see what you create. You’re awesome. <3
Things I love: adventures, falling in love (especially when the characters don’t realise that’s what they’re doing), unreliable narrators, slow build, characters with plans, characters with plans that go wrong, characters in love who have difficulty making the first move (particularly if the person they're pining for is in love with them too and having similar troubles), teasing, snark, established relationships (particularly the old-marriedness and cosy bits), kissing, thorough kissing, worldbuilding, magic, working through problems, laughter and derailments and affection during sex, cuddling, domesticity, happy endings. (More porn likes, if that's your thing, at my Yuleporn comment from this year.)
Dislikes and squicks: character-bashing (I adore all the characters I’ve nominated), gore, scat, torture, bestiality, under-age sex, incest, non-con. Also, I’m a vegan. This isn’t a big deal usually - feel free to have people eating cheeseburgers in the background or whatever. It’s only a squick for me if the eating of animals is graphic (e.g., character is hunting and eats their kill raw with bloody relish) and/or dwelt on at great length & detail.

FANDOM NUMBER ONE:
Political RPF - US 21st c.
Ship: Hillary Clinton/Ruth Bader Ginsburg
First, look at these two and tell me they aren’t just Simply Awesome. <3
Second, ideas? You want ideas? Maybe in 1974, instead of following Bill to Arkansas, Hillary stayed in Washington and argued seminal cases in front of the Supreme Court, just like Ruth. Maybe, having turned down Bill’s repeated marriage proposals, she and Ruth fell in love over briefs and briefcases; maybe Hillary ran for Congress, with Ruth at her side.
Or maybe Ruth and Hillary both ended up on the Supreme Court, and fell in love on the bench while transforming it together! (Footsie under the robes! Hillary or Ruth as Chief Justice kicking butt and taking names! Their clerks starting a secret betting pool as to when they’ll get together! Etc.!) Or maybe Hillary became President instead of Bill (before she decided to marry him and move to Arkansas, most people thought she had the starrier future in store), and ended up falling inconveniently but awesomely in love with one of her Justices.
I would adore a slow-build intelligent romance. But I’d also love a domestic slice of life from their kitchen in the morning, as Ruth reads a brief and Hillary makes a bowl of granola and then settles down with the latest intel from Abkhazia. Or perhaps you want to write friends-to-lovers, where Ruth and Hillary have been good friends for forever, and then it turns into something more. Or maybe you want to write porn, and more power to you! (I love porn, as I said in my general details, but I especially love porn where it’s really clear who the people are; conversations, quirks, thoughts, etc. I also adore porn that’s really loving - doesn’t have to be sappy, just really clear that these two characters love each other very much. However they might show it.)
But there have to be tons of ideas I’m not even thinking of. :) Honestly, anything with these two together would be divine. The only caveats I’d mention are 1) Infidelity makes me sad, so if you’re getting Hillary & Ruth together, it’d be great if you could handwave or ignore their husbands without bashing them (in 1974 Hillary can easily turn down Bill’s repeated marriage proposals and send him away to Arkansas, for instance). 2) Related - I like Bill fine, but as a supporting character not a major one.
Oh, and if you need OCs - clerks on Ruth and Hillary’s Supreme Court, President Hillary’s aides who pretend not to notice that Justice Ginsburg is spending a lot of time in the Oval Office - I have absolutely no problem with OCs as long as they’re not the main focus. :) Go for it and have fun creating people.

Ship: Jenny Flint/Madame Vastra
I love these two. I’m just impossibly intrigued by them, and their relationship, and what kind of shenanigans and adventures they must get up to. I love the affection between them, and the love, and the way they work together, hand in hand. I love the way Vastra doesn’t really care about most humans, but she deeply, deeply cares about Jenny.
Basically, I want to read anything you want to write! :) What’s their backstory? How did they meet? Who made a move on whom first? How did they come up with their “employer/maid” setup? Perhaps you want to write a day in the life of Flint & Vastra as they clean up London’s streets. Or perhaps you want to write the porn that I would be very much interested in, yes sirree. Or maybe you want to write an AU in which they’re the Doctor’s official companions for a while! (Feel free to bring along Strax, as I love him too.) Or perhaps you want to run with the idea of them as the inspiration for Conan Doyle, and write a mystery in which Moriarty is indubitably an alien, and quite possibly rather tasty.
If you do feel like writing porn, I’m totally up for exploration of Vastra’s different anatomy, and what that might mean for intimacy. Erogenous zones, that tongue, whatever's underneath her clothes... *goes faintly swoony*

Ship: Sansa Stark/Margaery Tyrell
I’m really open to just about anything with this ship. I love them both.
Some ideas, although really, go for whatever you want: I’d love a fic where Margaery wins the Iron Throne in the end and takes Sansa as her Queen, uniting North and South. (Perhaps after Dany and Stannis fall defeating the White Walkers? I don’t know, those details are up to you, haha.)
Or maybe you’d like to write a fic in which Margaery rescues Sansa from Petyr, and the two fall in love. Or perhaps you’re of a grimmer mind, and you’d like the two of them besieged in King’s Landing, fighting in all the ways they know how to win allies and influence people and draw support to their cause, while Dany marches ever closer with her dragons, and the White Walkers are coming down from the North, and the only people they can really trust are each other, alone in the quiet fierce love of their bed. Or maybe you want to skip ahead and write a story about Sansa the Lady of Winterfell, with her Lady Margaery at her side, picking the first blossoms of spring and making ready for the arrival of Queen Dany.
Basically, I love them, and you for wanting to write them. Also I love Margaery’s grandmother, and Arya, so if you feel like including either of those two, go for it. :)

Oxford Time Travel Universe - Connie Willis
Ship: Polly Churchill/Merope Ward
spoilers for Blackout/All Clear
I listened to the Blackout/All Clear duology on audiobook, and I loved them both so very much. Ashura wrote me an absolutely beautiful fic about Binnie for Yuletide this past year, which is fantastic and everybody should read it. For this exchange, though, what I’m really interested in is Polly/Merope (or, as I always think of it, Polly/Eileen).
I adore Eileen. Her first mission, gosh. She’s so young, and so scared for so much of the books. So scared…Polly has the bombing raids in her implant, but Eileen was supposed to be a maid up north, she wasn’t supposed to be anywhere near the Blitz and the bombings and danger! What must those weeks have been like, between the time she came to London and the time Mike and Polly found her? Yet as the books go on, Willis develops her so carefully; Eileen’s no longer just the scared rookie, she’s puzzling out the mysteries of the lies/omissions that Polly and Mike are telling her in their misguided attempts to protect her, she’s coming to her own conclusions and making her own plans. And I love the way her POV is so frequently annoyed with the “terror children” and even Theodore’s clingy whininess, but it’s belied by the way her actions speak louder than her thoughts. She’s a protector, a mother, a friend; she may be an undergraduate, but she grows up so quickly. By the time she makes the sacrifice at the end of the books, it feels both earned and satisfying, even though it’s sad at the same time.
And Polly! Beautiful, smart, star-crossed Polly, who everyone falls instantly in love with, from Sir Godfrey to Colin to Stephen. I love her fights with ribbons and her friendship with Marjorie, her misguided attempts to protect Eileen and Mike from the truth about her deadline, her tendency to always think the worst (assuming the troupe’s dead after the church is bombed, assuming she’ll get everyone she touches in 1941 killed and thus must never see them again, etc), her inability to get anything past Sir Godfrey, and her fearlessness in the face of danger (staying at the drop during the bombing raid, going into the bombed theatre after Sir Godfrey).
I’d love to read basically anything you wrote about Eileen/Polly, so if you have an idea already, go for it! :) Some things I think would be neat - Binnie and Alf trying to solve the mystery of all the whispering of Eileen, Polly, and Mike, and finding out accidentally that Eileen & Polly are actually together. Or perhaps Eileen, after Mike’s loss, finds solace in Polly’s arms? Or maybe you want to write porn, which I’d love (particularly if there was plenty of Eileen-and-Polly-ness in it). Or perhaps you want to write a day in the life of Eileen, from getting the Hodbins off to school, to going to work, to kissing Polly goodnight and drawing the covers up around them. I’d be happy with everything. :)

Political RPF - UK 20th-21st c.
Ships: Stella Creasy/Luciana Berger, Stella Creasy/Yvette Cooper, Stella Creasy/Shabana Mahmood
I love Stella Creasy, full stop. I love her clear-eyed sharpness, and her ambition, and her dedication to her work. I’d really enjoy a story focused on her work in Parliament and on her relationship with any of the three women mentioned above (Luciana Berger, Yvette Cooper, and Shabana Mahmood).
Perhaps you want to go ultra-realistic and write a gritty political fic with shifting alliances and intrigue and the difficulty of trusting a lover who’s also a politican. Or perhaps you’d rather write a cracky AU in which Stella’s a superhero taking on the Evil Wonga and her girlfriend has to cover her tracks and protect her Secret Identity, while simultaneously getting her own work done. Or maybe you’d like to write a wish-fulfillment future!fic in which Stella is Labour Leader (or Prime Minister), and finds herself falling in love with her Shadow Education Secretary (or Chancellor of the Exchequer, or Home Secretary, etc). Or perhaps you’d love to write porn. Anything’s good with me!
As for which ship to go with, I love them all. :) I’m especially partial to Stella/Luciana, but I love Stella/Yvette and Stella/Shabana as well. Stella, Luciana, and Shabana were all first elected in 2010, so they’re new, and Stella and Luciana in particular are rising stars. Yvette, meanwhile, is New Labour and a level above them (if you wanted to have her being the Labour Leader/Prime Minister, and Stella being the Cabinet member with a thorough crush on her, that’d be great too). They’re all passionate and smart and complicated and gorgeous, so whatever direction you want to go is great with me. :)

FANDOM NUMBER SIX:
Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling
Ships: Madam Hooch/Pomona Sprout, Minerva McGonagall/Pomona Sprout, Madam Hooch/Minerva McGonagall
I love the world of Harry Potter, all its complications and richness and dark corners. I particularly love its minor characters, and the little glimpses we get into their broader lives. From Susan Bones to Madam Hooch to Parvati Patil, I always wonder how everything looked from their eyes, and what it was like growing up in the Hogwarts of Harry Potter’s days, when you weren’t Harry Potter yourself (or one of his mates).
For this exchange, I’ve highlighted three ships in particular: Madam Hooch/Pomona Sprout, Minerva McGonagall/Pomona Sprout, and Madam Hooch/Minerva McGonagall. I love all three of them desperately. Even from the little we see of Madam Hooch and Professor Sprout, they have such distinct personalities! And Professor McGonagall is of course simply fabulous. I love the way they were portrayed in the films - helped by the fact that I utterly adore each of their actresses - but I also love them in the books. (I don’t know any of the expanded canon that I vaguely know exists somewhere, perhaps in Pottermore? But feel free to work it in if it lends itself to your story, just maybe note it in your notes and point me in its direction so I can understand what’s going on, lol.)
As for ideas - goodness, I don’t even know where to start! Friends-to-lovers and first-times are two of my favourite tropes, so I’d love to see any of the duos becoming close and falling in love. Or perhaps you’d like to write a study of the academic system at Hogwarts, as written by Minerva, as Pomona tends happily to their balcony garden and comes in to bestow a kiss to the top of Minerva’s hair. Or maybe you’d be interested in a faculty game of Quidditch, with Madam Hooch sending the Quaffle through on many an occasion, but her partner Pomona catching the Snitch for the other team and waving saucily. Or perhaps you’re of a grimmer mind, and would want to write something about Hooch and McGonagall lying in bed together, listening to the thunder rage outside and holding each other close against the looming darkness. Or maybe you want to write porn.
I am exceedingly easy to please here, dear writer! :) Do Madam Hooch and Pomona laugh about the antics of their students? Does Minerva sigh over their attempts at handwriting, and summon her partner (who has better eyesight) to help her out? Do Minerva and Madam Hooch go to Diagon Alley together, parting to go separately to look at broomsticks and books, and then meet up again for a beverage and a pastry (does Diagon Alley do coffee? I’m not sure.) Did Pomona and Madam Hooch fall in love as prefects from different houses - did Pomona grow special plants to present to her new girlfriend - did Madam Hooch (who must’ve been called Rolanda back then, though it seems odd to think of her as anything other than Madam Hooch!) take Pomona up on broomsticks to the top of a hill to watch the sun set?
Eeee. This is all off the top of my head, so please don’t feel like you have to write one of these ideas! I would really love anything with one of these ships. They’re all of them awesome. And so are you, for volunteering to write one of them! ♥

As for ideas - goodness, I don’t even know where to start! Friends-to-lovers and first-times are two of my favourite tropes, so I’d love to see any of the duos becoming close and falling in love. Or perhaps you’d like to write a study of the academic system at Hogwarts, as written by Minerva, as Pomona tends happily to their balcony garden and comes in to bestow a kiss to the top of Minerva’s hair. Or maybe you’d be interested in a faculty game of Quidditch, with Madam Hooch sending the Quaffle through on many an occasion, but her partner Pomona catching the Snitch for the other team and waving saucily. Or perhaps you’re of a grimmer mind, and would want to write something about Hooch and McGonagall lying in bed together, listening to the thunder rage outside and holding each other close against the looming darkness. Or maybe you want to write porn.
I am exceedingly easy to please here, dear writer! :) Do Madam Hooch and Pomona laugh about the antics of their students? Does Minerva sigh over their attempts at handwriting, and summon her partner (who has better eyesight) to help her out? Do Minerva and Madam Hooch go to Diagon Alley together, parting to go separately to look at broomsticks and books, and then meet up again for a beverage and a pastry (does Diagon Alley do coffee? I’m not sure.) Did Pomona and Madam Hooch fall in love as prefects from different houses - did Pomona grow special plants to present to her new girlfriend - did Madam Hooch (who must’ve been called Rolanda back then, though it seems odd to think of her as anything other than Madam Hooch!) take Pomona up on broomsticks to the top of a hill to watch the sun set?
