I agree that many Christians live as if they don't believe in Hell and that there is no urgency in the mission to share the gospel message. I'm sure this is due to a wide variety of reasons, from indifference to fear of rejection to harboring sin in their own life to false teaching like you saw on the program. And people who stand up for what is right will be attacked. As Paul wrote, "all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." (II Timothy 3:12) And what does this say about our life if we aren't suffering persecution?
It's interesting to me that Peter, who didn't always have the most tact in what he did or said, wrote, "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." (I Peter 3:15) But even if we respond respectfully we still must be ready to be attacked. The first part of the verse is the root of the problem in most cases. As you asked above, how many of those who profess to be Christians really are? Is Christ the Lord of their life?
Well, I feel like I'm rambling, but it is definitely a question that we need to seriously consider.
