It doesn't matter if you support the war or are against it, recognize they have had to face some horrible sights and your friend(s) is/are still here.
To my non US friends Veterans Day is about honoring and remembering those who served in the military, national guard and/or coast guard. Memorial Day is honoring those who died in service. In war and/or peace times. With some overlap.
