All with the same theme!
Today was a momentous day for my baby Sylvia. Today she made her first step towards solid food!
I think one of lmy favorite parts of the adventure was how aware she was through the whole thing. Unfortunately, that resulted in not so great pictures- there are hardly any pictures where she's not looking at the camera, distracted from eating. So in all the shots of her eating she stares into the camera, confused at the flashing box in her face.
So we bought the box of gerber rice cereal for baby this past week, and I hadn't seen opportunity for it yet. But this afternoon as she made her "where's lunch?" noises, the thoguht occured to me. So I mixed the cereal in a bowl with some formula so it would taste like food, and made it really soupy.
I put the baby into her bouncer, which initially upset her because of the lack of bottle.. and stuck the spoon in her face, not into her mouth but right there. As soon as she oppened her mouth I gently dabbed her tounge with the baby sized spoon, and watched her look up at me as if I were some kind of crazy goon.
After a while I guess I had her convinced this was food because she actually grabbed my hand and pulled it to her mouth. My child is brilliant!! She even stole the spoon from me at one point, but didn't have the coordination to actually weild it properly- and therefore made a mess. I think I ended up ceaning cereal out of her ears!
The best part, though, was that my brother, Donavan was in the livingroom and willing to help me with the camera- so I got a few bits of video! Those portions can be found over at YouTube here:

So I made a bottle so that she would have a full tummy (and be happy, and learn that spoon eating gets a full tummy, too) and we sat on the couch and watched judging amy. And she was in a great happy mood until she decided she was tired and wantwe to be cranky.
That's my favorite picture of the whole thing- as she sits up all tall and stable wondering where the rest of her food is... and you can see how messy her clothes got. Poor thing!
So I also realized when i uploaded pictures that I have a lot of pictures from the last few months to upload. Hopefully that will happen soon.
