21st Arrow [Action]

May 10, 2010 13:45

[Everything has changed since Rebecca was taken. Her best friend is gone. Her roommate? Returned home. A close friend of hers had died. Before she can find out any of this, though, she has the side-effects of her own recent experiment to deal with.

It starts near the barracks, where Rebecca wakes up. She's not the same, though. She has a faint red ( Read more... )

[Lyn is heading back from a morning of training. And by "training", I mean "throwing herself brutally against the dummies in an attempt to make herself so exhausted she can't worry anymore". It's more or less worked, in the sense that now she's so wiped out that all she can really think of is getting back to her oh-so-empty apartment, showering, and throwing herself on the bed.

But she's got something else to deal with first, it seems.] R-Rebecca... [She swallows, not wanting to have the conversation she's about to.] You're back.

[OOC: I... have no idea where I want this to go, whether I want Lyn hurt or what. But there's no way she could possibly ignore this.]

[It should be very apparent that something is wrong. Instead of greeting Lyn, she moves away, getting to that perfect distance for an archer and its target. Just like with Bang, she readies that arrow and fires it. There's only a slight moment of hesitation, and the look on her face is anything but friendly; she just looks angry.]

[ooc; it's up to you! X3 And of course not, I was hoping Lyn'd reply.]

[She was in the middle of taking a step forward when Rebecca begins to move away from her.] Rebecca, what- [That's all she gets out before the arrow is readied, and oh is it a good thing she's so well trained because she just rolled away from a shot that would have gotten her square in the chest.]

Rebecca! What are you doing? [Fear, betrayal, anger, and shock lace her voice.]

[OOC: I guess we'll just go with what comes naturally. She'll protect herself as best she can, realize what's happening and the fact that without healing magic she can't possibly dispell the effects, and then... well I can't see her running away is the problem, she'd more likely try and knock Rebecca out. So either she has to be taken down or she just chases her all the way to the fountain where Adell is waiting.]

[Instead of talking, though, Rebecca's just going to ready another arrow. There are no words, no reason for her to attack Lyndis aside from the fact that she's just so...angry. She doesn't care who she attacks; she just recognizes Lyn...and fires again.]

[ooc; I'll just have Adell jump in after they get to the fountain, then, okay? ^^ It works for me. I actually meant to PM you but forgot. orz]

[She curses under her breath. The harsh training makes avoiding the second shot far more taxing than it has any right to be, and it doesn't seem Rebecca's dealing with the usual damage to her body that those returned from the Malnosso tend to suffer. She has the advantage.

But Lyn does have two things going for her. Speed, and the fact that Rebecca can't attack her at close range. Immediately after dodging the arrow she rushes, hoping to close the distance enough that there's no chance to fire.

Meanwhile, her mind runs through possibilities of what the Malnosso could have done to make her act this way...]

[Rebecca quickly turns on her heels and starts to run as well. She's only intent on taking out her "enemy" while ensuring her own safety...and she's no slouch herself. She readies an arrow as she runs, though, still not entirely giving up on taking Lyn out...though when she stops and fires, she aims for Lyn's leg.]

[The blow isn't clean, but Lyn doesn't quite manage to dodge that arrow. There's a wince as she feels blood begin to trickle out of the slice the head took out of her shin, but at least it only glanced her.

Still, a leg wound is not the sort of thing you want to have when running after someone. It slows her down, the pain distracts her, if only a little, and just generally it's bad news all around. But Lyn doesn't let that stop her. Instead, she calls on Kipinn, gathering wind beneath her to help speed her steps and lighten the impact of her feet, lessening the effects of the wound.

Still she tries to figure out what's wrong here. Rebecca's acting like she's completely lost her mind, like she's gone...

Berserk. Of course.] Damn you, Malnosso.

[And then it's a chase--she's not even going to be able to replenish her arrows, and with her heavy soldier mindset, she chooses to ignore Lyn and keep running. She has the advantage now, or so she thinks. Especially since she knows the forest by the barracks like the back of her hand.

And when she's out of the forest, still with Lyn trailing her? She's going to try and have a stand-off at the fountain. When she finally gets there, she has her bow ready again, and she's ready for a fight...even if she doesn't really know who she's fighting. All she knows is that she wants to defeat Lyndis.]

[Lyn just runs after her, never able to quite catch up, even with Kipinn's help. In fact, she's steadily losing ground, enough that by the time they reach the fountain, Rebecca will definitely have time to get some arrows off.

But now the girl's stopped, and if she can just close the gap between them she might be able to stop her before something really nasty happens. Gritting her teeth against the insistent pain in her leg, she charges head on.]

and now Adell can come in? able_wildflower May 12 2010, 00:38:10 UTC
[What happens when you pit two of the army's fastest combatants against each other? Nothing hits. The hit on the leg must have been lucky, and Rebecca manages to duck out of the charge's way and dash to a safe distance. Like before, she immediately readies an arrow, but she's running low--she can't keep it up forever.]

[And here's Adell on the scene. He saw Rebecca charge headlong into the square like a woman on fire. ...But something was off the moment he saw her spin around and fire away arrows at something. Then this other woman comes charging toward Rebecca? The hell is going on here? She looks hurt, but why is Rebecca shooting at her? None of this makes sense, but on his guard, he's going to approach this mess; the first thing coming to mind that his friend might be in trouble.]

Rebecca?! Do you need help?!

[The dodging, the missing, it all blurs together as she just tries to focus on bringing Rebecca down before she hurts someone...

Only to hear someone else call out. She doesn't turn towards Adell (that could be a death sentence) but she shouts, in a breathless voice-]

Look out! She's not herself!

[For a brief few seconds, Lyn doesn't even exist--Adell is there now, and she's got another target to deal with. While still backing up, she wordlessly loads another arrow and turns to fire it at Adell.]

Rebecca...?

[Lyn's words barely echo into his head as Rebecca knocks the arrow and lets it loose at him.]

[Adell spins around as the arrow impacts him in his left shoulder, sticking out with a direct hit. He staggers back for a second, hand shooting up to the wound. The world spins for a second... and suddenly as the pain from the arrow really registers, Lyn's words take hold...]
