New haircut shortcoming #1: I can't make it look like she did. I tried. I think unless I want to pack it full of styling products, I'm stuck with it being much floppier and less full. It looks a lot more "precious/cute" now

This is why I would never get my hair cut before a vacation. I'm always down on haircuts though.

Bring baby powder. It's good for soaking up oil when you need a shampoo. Although you can actually get colored hair powder just for that purpose, but it's more expensive.

And hair goop makes hair sticky and stiff.

I pigtailed it today for that reason. For the trip though, my plan is the babushka look.
