You are far too cheerful for someone who has returned here.

Am I! I suppose I should apologise, then, shouldn't I? Well. Maybe. Bit unusual, though, isn't it -- apologising for being cheerful.

I don't need an apology, but why would you not, well... you know, dread being here?

Dread? Really? Strong word, I think, it's not quite so bad. Well. Compared to other worlds. It's the not leaving I think I'd be likely to dread more than anything.

I rather liked my home, thank you. And the not being able to leave thing is the most frustrating. But, aren't you stuck here as well?

Oh, I'm sure! Home's quite nice, I suppose, rather...cozy, most of the time, at least compared to a desolate, woebegotten mess of a place. Or rather, home's where the heart is, but I can't quite imagine what sort of person would put their heart into a place like this anyway, can you?

I can't imagine anyone putting their heart here, unless whatever hell they came from is worse.

Well, I'm sure that's not quite impossible either -- all sorts of different worlds, planets, countries, states, conglomerations -- some of them are bound to be a bit worse for wear.

No doubt that's true. But is it so much to ask that those of us with better lives back home, be sent back home?

I don't think it's much to ask at all, really, but it's not up to me -- sending people home, that is.

Of course not, it's up to the sadists that have forced us to be here.

Well, I think sadist is a bit strong, really, without knowing why they're doing all of this.

What word would you choose to use?

Oh, I'm sure I could think of quite a few, given the time. Tricky, sneaky --wasn't that their nickname, for a while, the "sneaky group"?-- disingenuous, duplicitous -- there's a good one, duplicitous!

I would want crueler words. But I suppose duplicitous can work.

Well, I suppose that comes down to a difference in thinking, really -- cruel wording and whathaveyou.
