Every year I reminisce about my first
Koninginnedag (Queen's Day). H and I spent the afternoon walking around Utrecht enjoying the people, noise and crap being sold everywhere. Quite something for me because it was my first. At some point H got a Shoarma the size of his head (greasy, nasty meat stuffed in a pita with garlic sauce) and I got a vegetarian Lumpia. Who do you think wound up with food poisoning? I may or may not decide to venture out today with some friends but it appears I have developed a horrid cold overnight. On top of that, now that I am well into the injections, I'm starting to feel the side effects so I'm a bit annoyed. Can't complain too much because I don't have any pain and for that I feel blessed. On a super plus side, I have Monday off which means 3 full days in my studio. Almost too good to be true!
Last night we completely avoided the thousands of party-people out for Koninginnenacht (music, drinking, flea markets) and cycled to
Springhaver cafe in the museum quarter of the city. We had a delish dinner (more than 1 vegetarian option!) a few la Chouffes, then saw the film Crash in the beautiful litte theatre connected to the cafe. The film wasn't spectacular but the story and players were good. A relatively quiet evening which is good because in the next week we have 2 concerts, H's birthday and a guest from out of town staying for 4 days.
H is away for another 'gaming weekend' with the usual suspects...
